The building is starting to show on the skyline, when you are approaching the JSB from the Esquimalt side.

I hung around downtown today and the condo corridor is really coming along between Douglas and Cook. Makes you feel like you're in Metrotown... but without the SkyTrain

Would be amazing if there was a skytrain line from Langford to Victoria to the airport.

It would be amazing if Metrotown area had a legitimate downtown feel.

So it would seem the sides of these Chard buildings were designed as sides. Are they expecting buildings of equivalent height next door?

I think the look of the east facade could be greatly improved by constructing a more interesting building on the Floyd's lot.

But I wouldn’t necessarily expect anything too soon, though. There’s so much inventory coming online at Harris & Harris that it’ll keep supply satisfied for years, along with what’s already in progress/approved.
Know it all.

The modern CoV has been fretting about building heights and cookie-cutter design for 60 years, but when it finally allows two tall-ish residential buildings in the heart of downtown it suddenly decides that plain repetition isn't such a big deal after all on the tower levels.

Agreed. I wonder how many decades that will take?

The repetition of form (and overall blandness of the eastern and western facades) seemed much less apparent in the renderings. I remain hopeful that when complete and occupied the towers will seem a bit more lively.

Go back to the beginning of this thread and it seems the CoV was pleased about the exciting architectural style.
I was grumbling about the very conventional lower levels and the absence of anything particularly exciting.
But since then I've come to feel much better about the podiums, and now I'm grumbling about the tower levels.

FYI: the old illustrations suggested much less repetition on the tower levels, which may have confused all of us.

And here I was just glad to see a contrail in the second pic.

I give them points for getting the proportions right. These sure aren't bulky towers. Chard has a really good track record for that aspect.

The massing is great; the aesthetics are so-so.
