We are pretty excited about developing this project! Pretty standard tuck under building/surface parking layout. The exterior massing/design was heavily influence by the dramatic roof line with features a standing seam metal roof and 68 solar panels on the excellent southern solar exposure. Current status is zoning is in place, summer Council vote on the DP/DVP with a Fall construction start.

How many units? Also, glad to see this development. A good redevelopment for an area that should be looking for much more density in the near future.

Ahh, very good, this is right on one of my dog walking routes, and a few blocks away from our home. The two houses on these lots are total dumps and are not taken care of at all. Perfect place for another modest multi-family building. Glad to hear that Saanich approved this relatively painlessly.

Painless if you think that a DP/DVP should take 15 months where we applied on the same day for our no parking project in Sidney (also DP/DVP) and had it approved in 3 months.

Council approved a development permit for this project. Four floors, twenty-seven units. Developers agreed to a covenant that prevents the building later becoming condos. Council must still ratify the permit after the developer makes certain related commitments such as installing solar panels and replacing trees.

Well, when you put it that way...

Mayfair vs. Hillside:

4 floors, surface parking and it gets approved.

4 floors, surface parking and it gets rejected.

It's nearly spring. No sign of construction start. No sign of demolition. What's going on PPPdev? The houses are vacant now and the properties look like hell (even worse than before, somehow!).

Has the DP been ratified? It was approved in December, but there were outstanding issues to address (including registration of a housing agreement) before ratification. The Saanich website lists this application as "In Progress."

I bet Citified would be interested in a  tour once the panels and electrical switching is put in place, as a follow up to the prior article.
