VicMap is showing a demolition permit was issued last Aug.  But the actually building permit is on hold so actual construction may take longer.

Still quicker than Oak Bay :)   What's the chance the Provincial gov will get Oak Bay in line??

The last of the existing homes are all but demolished. Pick-a-flick and the other commercial sites to follow.

Not likely unless the market turns substantially.

But individual owners might make their units available for rent.

Walked by this site earlier this week and you could smell the fuel coming off some of the freshly excavated soil.  Depending on the extent of the contamination they may have a bit of remediation work to complete before construction gets fully underway.

Are they only just now discovering potential site contamination? This project has already been 7 years in the planning with nothing to show for it.

There was a consultant on site grabbing samples so assume they knew about it.  But it will still slow excavation as they will have to confirm they have removed all the contaminated material before bulk excavation starts to avoid spending more than necessary on disposal.

This will be an amazing ownership opportunity. I recall how much disappointment there was when the condo further south became a rental post-approvals. A lot of people had hoped to downsize into that building.

Breaking ground only 7 years since this project was proposed. Not even close to Northern Junk's record.

COVID slowed things down, for sure.

It’s moving ahead now, without pre-sales. That’s how bullish the developer is on the neighbourhood. It’s a good sign for a developer to move forward without the pre-sale campaign.
