Do we know when the SOLID, 100% guaranteed, success story, will actually open its doors to the great, and the good, benevolent, lovable rascals, of downtown? To give the neighbourhood 'A bit 'o clarse', for once? By Island Farms?

Well, they have to install a big fence first.  The neighbours might want to take note, they will need one soon too.

Bunny Henry will be there personally to give them their welcome package full of fentanyl and cocaine.

Henry's attempts to make drugs as easily available as candy has become a liability for a government still reeling from the effects of its failed drug policies

Henry released a report declaring that stores need to start stuffing their shelves with meth, cocaine and other highly addictive drugs, in order to combat the addictions crisis. The report was predictable — and rightfully — panned as bewildering, if not utterly insane.

People aren't being evil - they are simply frustrated and fed up with behaviour that has become all too entrenched and enabled by the those in charge.

Calling for people to be tarred and feathered? People? No. A mob? Yes.
Calling for people to be permanently removed from society? No one said permanently.
Denying for people to be denied access to emergency services? Absolutely, by their own fault.

Y’all are kinda evil

What are you thinking?

What's shameful and evil is people like you defending their behaviour.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the cause of the Victoria Pride Society's systemic bias is against VicPD? I mean if they were assaulted or the victim of any other crime, they'd be on the phone to VicPD post haste. Wouldn't they?

'Call to removal of police from Pride
VPS say that as per their website, they do not support having uniformed law enforcement in the annual Pride parade.

“The Victoria Pride Society determined that law enforcement involvement in the Victoria Pride Parade does not align with our central mission at this time, and no uniforms belonging to law enforcement may be worn in the parade,” said VPS.'

The VPS also accepts, l assume, reasonably generous funding from TD Bank. Hopefully politely. They're anything but polite about their title sponsor once the cheque is safely cashed. Am I seeing a pattern here?
'During the parade, the community-led group of protesters cut off the TD Bank group and called out the bank as their main concern.

“This is not the first time we’ve heard concerns about TD’s activities (e.g. Trans Mountain pipeline expansion; TMX, etc.), and we share them,” VPS wrote in their statement.'

On the plus side, they folded to the 'queer pro Palestinian' people, who blocked their 'No diversity too great, unless we disagree with you of course', Pride Parade, on every single demand over the following week, it would appear. You've got to admire such highly principled, moral paragons, as the VPS, l always find.

Inmate bit corrections officer at Wilkinson Road jail during admissions process: union

Corrections officer was treated at hospital and released, union says

A B.C. corrections officer working at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre in Saanich was assaulted on Friday by an inmate being booked into the jail, says a union official.

Dean Purdy, BCGEU vice-president representing corrections officers and sherrifs, confirmed to the Times Colonist that an inmate attacked a correctional officer working in the admissions and discharge department at the jail during an intake process.

“During the struggle, the inmate bit one of our COs in the arm, resulting in puncture and bite marks,” Purdy said.

The corrections officer, who had to go to the emergency department for his injuries, has since been discharged and is at home recuperating, Purdy said.

Purdy, a corrections supervisor at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre who wasn’t working at the jail at the time of the incident, said there would have been an “immediate response within 30 seconds” if the officer triggered their personal alarm pager.

B.C. Corrections did not respond to a request for comment on Saturday.

Purdy said the union would like to see additional measures, such as more corrections officers during the intake process, as well as increasing the number of corrections officers in jail sections where inmates live.

Martial artist and dog fight off attacker who wore bra on head

Around 9:30 a.m. on July 11, a 44-year-old Nanaimo man was walking his dog near Northfield Rotary Lookout Park, when he was confronted by a man with two knives who tried to stab him.

“In response, the dog lunged at the assailant and bit him on the right leg,” said Nanaimo RCMP.

“The dog’s owner, who is trained in martial arts, was able to incapacitate the assailant and take possession of the knives.”

Police are describing the suspect as a white man in his 30s, with shoulder-length brown hair. He was wearing dark clothes and “had a bra on his head.”

Following the confrontation, the suspect fled with a red suitcase and a red mobility walker.

Here’s the press release of that Nanaimo incident. The mainstream press ought to identify when their news is via press release. It should not appear as though it’s a story unique to that outlet or uncovered by their journalists.

From the RCMP:

On July 11, 2024, at approximately 9:30 am, a 44-year-old Nanaimo man was walking his large dog in the wooded area behind the Northfield Rotary Lookout Park, located at 2450 Northfield Road, when he was confronted by another male wielding two knives. The assailant swung the knives at the dog walker, attempting to stab him. In response, the dog lunged at the assailant and bit him on the right leg. The dog's owner, who is trained in martial arts, was able to incapacitate the assailant and take possession of the knives.

The suspect is a Caucasian male with shoulder-length brown hair, aged between 30 and 40. He was wearing dark clothes and had a bra on his head. After the incident, he left the area with a red suitcase and a red mobility walker. Despite extensive foot patrols in the area by Police Dog Services and officers, they did not find the suspect.

The investigation is continuing, and police are requesting that anyone with information about the suspect call the Nanaimo RCMP at (250)754-2345.

Know it all.

Mischief to beach art in Colwood

2024-07-15

File # 2024-13424

On July 15 2024, at approximately 7:00 a.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a call from the Colwood Fire Department of a male who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis and had started a beach fire at the Esquimalt Lagoon.

West Shore RCMP Frontline officers attended the area and were notified by a witness that the suspect had also set fire to the mammoth statue at Royal Bay Beach and had departed the area on foot. The male was reportedly in possession of a hatchet.

Officers were able to locate and arrest the 41-year-old suspect a short distance from the fire scene.
Witnesses told officers that the suspect had also damaged a set of stairs and a second wooden art statue with the hatchet. A hatchet was located and seized by police near the arrest location.

The suspect is being held in police custody to attend court this afternoon. Police are recommending charges of:
1. Arson Causing Damage to Property - Sec. 434 Criminal Code;
2. Mischief over $5000 - Sec. 430(3) Criminal Code.

Saanich man convicted in double murder wins review of full parole denial
Derik Lord and two others were teenagers when they murdered two women in an attempt to secure a $4-million inheritance.

A Saanich man convicted in a 1990 double murder in Tsawwassen has won a review of a decision to deny him full parole.

Derik Lord, along with David Muir and Darren Huenemann, were teenagers attending Mount Douglas Secondary School when they murdered Huenemann’s mother and grandmother in an attempt to secure a $4-million inheritance.

Lord, who is now 50 and continues to maintain he is innocent, had been granted day parole in March 2020, and was eligible for full parole earlier this year, but the request was denied by the Parole Board of Canada.

Lord appealed the February decision, arguing it was unreasonable. It followed what was reportedly a tense hearing where Lord had to pause to collect himself during questioning.

According to the appeal division’s decision, “the board’s written reasons do not adequately explain why it preferred its observations about your emotions management in an hour and 46 minute hearing to that of the file information” — referring to a November 2023 assessment of Lord’s behaviour while on day parole.

The assessment, submitted as part of Lord’s hearing and appeal, said he had “progressed at a slow and gradual pace since he was released in March 2020.”

“Lord demonstrated stability, self-awareness and transparency with his [case management team], family and supports,” a summary said. “He maintained employment, involvement in cultural practices and in his family’s life. He has a good awareness of what can contribute to destabilizing his release, and he is conscious and aware of avoiding these situations.”

In its decision, issued June 27, the appeal division said it was “obvious … that the questioning by the board during the hearing had a negative effect on [Lord’s] ability to effectively communicate.”

“Although you took responsibility for not presenting well during your hearing, the appeal division finds that the tension present during most of the hearing negatively impacted your ability to meaningfully engage with the board.”

The appeal division also said the parole board’s decision did not adequately explain why Lord presented a higher risk on full parole compared to his current day-parole arrangement, in which he is allowed 14 days in the community and then required to report to a community residential facility for two days.

As a result, the appeal division has ordered a new review into the parole board’s decision, allowing Lord a second chance at full parole.

’Balaclava rapist’ Larry Takahashi gets full parole more than 40 years after attacks

His plan for full parole includes living in a home he has rented in a location not disclosed in the decision, and that he is able to support himself financially

The Canadian Press

A man known as the “balaclava rapist” for attacking 23 women in Edmonton more than 40 years ago has been granted full parole while he continues to serve three concurrent life sentences.

A Parole Board of Canada panel in Abbotsford says 71-year-old Larry Takahashi has demonstrated prolonged stability at the home where he lives and he is “highly motivated to reintegrate safely back into society.”

He gained his nickname for wearing a ski mask during a series of attacks on women over several years in Edmonton before his arrest in 1983, which led to a guilty plea on 14 charges.

The board’s decision, made on June 25 but made public on Monday, says Takahashi’s psychological assessment concludes his risk to reoffend either sexually or violently is “relatively low or well below average.”

It says that he has completed all recommended prison and community programs, has met regularly with a psychologist and remains open to counselling, if recommended.

His plan for full parole includes living in a home he has rented in a location not disclosed in the decision, and that he is able to support himself financially.

It says Takahashi’s case management team is of the opinion that he no longer needs the structure of a community residential facility after being granted day parole in 2016.

“(You) have suitable housing, have insight into your offence cycle and risk factors, have participated in a slow and progressive transition to increased independence without concern, and will continue to be subject to a supervision plan and have access to community supports to maintain your progress and manageability,” says the decision signed by two parole board members.
