Happy Valentines You Two!
Victoria PD would like you to be their Valentine, and they got you a gift to celebrate the special day – SPOILER ALERT – It’s bracelets.
When they learned that on January 30, 2025, at approximately 02:40 hours you broke into the Bell media offices in the 500 block of Park Place, Victoria and stole approximately $80,000 worth of broadcast equipment they knew you were very special and wanted to make sure you knew that you caught their attention.
Girl, you rocked that black and yellow coat, black pants, distinct yellow, orange, and black Nike shoes. The tie dye backpack was a nice colorful touch to offset all that black.

And dude you are looking so cool in that black toque, blue NBA New York Knicks hoodie, black puffer jacket, black pants, and white sneakers but you could have left off the black balaclava. It hides your lovely face too much.
If you have any information about this theft, or who these suspects are and you want to tell us anonymously, please call 1-800-222-8477. You may also submit a tip online by visiting www.victoriacrimestoppers.ca

Gang member who fatally stabbed man in 2018 returns to Victoria
February 14, 2025
A gang member convicted of manslaughter in 2018 moved back to Victoria in December.
2 days after his release on Dec. 14, 2024, Daniel Creagh was back into trouble, racking up charges including threats, mischief, theft, assault & assault w/weapon across Greater Victoria before being held in custody.
The family of the man he killed says he needs to stay there.
“He put ‘who’s next?’ on his knuckles, he put a swastika tattoo on himself, a tear drop tattoo, does that show reform?”.
“I’m a 10-year-old boy who’s lost his father and brother in the last six years, can you guys just please do something?” said victim's son Karter Gauthier.
Parole Board documents indicate Creagh spent prison time doing drugs, not attending programming, joining a white supremacist gang, and on the run from his halfway house for 6 mos.
After Creagh was arrested and revoked, 2.5 months later, his manslaughter sentence was up.
Creagh is now in custody after his Jan. 17-related charges.

Nanaimo drug trafficker loses appeal of 10 drugs and weapons convictions
Justin Thomas Gary Donovan, born 1984, was sentenced to 4.5 years imprisonment for drug possession, PPT, firearms possession w/o a licence and possessing firearms contrary to prohibition.
On Oct. 2, 2019, a 911 caller alleged he was held hostage, beaten/choked, one captor threatening to burn him with a butane torch, another threatening to stab him.
Donovan was arrested, then during a search 6 days later, police confiscated close to $6k cash, 18g cocaine, 7g methamphetamine, 10g ecstasy, 1L GHB, a pistol, semi-auto rifle, 2 shotguns, ammo & electronics.
Donovan's counsel challenged the search warrant - "there were no reasonable grounds to believe that the butane torch and [other evidence] would still be in the residence 7 days after the alleged violent incident,".
Appeal justices stated Feb. 4 they saw "nothing illogical or irrational" about the differences in drug convictions. "It is not unreasonable to find an accused guilty of using and trafficking in different drugs at the same time,".

Coordinated police response in mobile home park
West Shore
2025-02-16 - File #2025-3017
On February 15, 2025 just before 5 p.m., West Shore RCMP frontline officers and the Vancouver Island RCMP Emergency Response Team, including Crisis Negotiators, responded to an incident involving an adult male at the Hidden Valley Mobile Home Park located on Florence Lake Rd in Langford.
A male suspect barricaded himself inside a home within the park. A large perimeter was established by police until the suspect was safely taken into police custody. Officers advised neighbours to stay safe inside their home while police worked.
Last night, some residents began coming out of their homes after a misleading post on social media had wrongly informed people that the incident was over, while it was still ongoing. Incidents like this can unfold quickly and it is vitally important to follow police direction to maintain public safety, said Constable Gabriel Gravel, Media Relations Officer with the West Shore RCMP. We appreciate the response from the public that cooperated with police direction.
One male was taken into custody and there is no further risk to the public. Residents may continue to observe a police presence in the area as investigators remain on scene. As this investigation is ongoing there is no further information that can be released at this time.

Strike Force Seizes Fentanyl, Cocaine In Drug Trafficking Investigation
Date: Tuesday, February 18, 2025
File: #24-41846
Victoria, B.C. – A four-week drug trafficking investigation led by VicPD’s Strike Force unit, resulted in an arrest of a male and seizure of a significant quantity of illicit drugs on February 7.
During the investigation, Strike Force utilized covert tactics to surveil a drug trafficker throughout the region. A search warrant was obtained and executed at the suspect’s residence on Bear Mountain, with assistance from the RCMP Island Emergency Response Team (ERT). One male was arrested inside the residence. Items seized include:
$105,000 in cash
One kilogram of Fentanyl (prepackaged in one-ounce bags)
20 liters of Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB)
13 ounces of Methamphetamine (prepacked in one-ounce bags)
6 ounces of Cocaine (prepackaged in one-ounce bags)
Many of the drugs seized were prepackaged in one-ounce bags
Strike Force also executed a search warrant on the primary vehicle used by the suspect and with the assistance of an RCMP drug-interdiction canine, X-ray technology utilized by the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT), and trained officers in after-market compartments, located a professionally installed hidden compartment inside. The compartment required a specific sequence of buttons within the vehicle to be pressed in order to open.
One kilogram of Cocaine
500 grams of Fentanyl
500 grams of Methamphetamine
A loaded Glock handgun and a bag of ammunition
“I am proud of the investigative work carried out by Strike Force, with support from the RCMP Emergency Response Team, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team to remove these deadly substances from our communities,” said Chief Del Manak. “Targeting drug traffickers remains a priority for our department, and this operation is just one of many successful outcomes in our ongoing efforts.”
The suspect was released from police custody, pending further investigation. As the investigation is ongoing, additional details are not available at this time.

Pretty slick, that hidden compartment.
That suspect already walking around free is ridiculous. There really needs to be some changes made to that system, from the top down. Not withstanding, even.

I don't think it was a local Victoria shop that did the install on that compartment, although some of the local gangs may have the expertise.

Feb 18, 2025
An unsanctioned midwife recently charged w/manslaughter unsuccessfully argued the search & seizure of items from her property was unlawful.

Gloria Jeanne Lemay, 77, was charged with manslaughter in the death of an unresponsive baby born in December 2023.
Lemay took exception to the seizure of various devices, also arguing the search was an abuse of process.

Woman sought help for son’s mental health days before she was killed
Times Colonist - 19 Feb 2025
Before a Langford man killed his mother, she sought help from police and mental-health authorities, Supreme Court heard Tuesday.
Ryan Elder, 30, left the mobile home he shared with his mother, Raymonde Elder, a few days before the Christmas Day killing in 2021.
Raymonde Elder, 59, called to report her son missing a few days before she died, telling a call-taker she wanted to take her son to hospital but they wouldn’t admit him unless he wanted to hurt himself or kill others. Ryan Elder returned home the next day.
“The defence...(recognizes) that what occurred was an absolute tragedy...we’re here to debate Mr. Elder’s legal culpability”.
“No evidence has been put forward to support or to even make the court suspicious that Mr. Elder was or is malingering and feigning illness to escape criminal liability,” Roy said.
Prosecutors are to deliver their closing arguments Wednesday.
