So it was robbery, not just vandalism--even worse.
Back in my day, servers took home their tips at the end of their shift and all other cash and credit slips went into a immovable drop safe. I assume in this case the servers will be reimbursed.
No servers, all back of house staff. So tips are pooled and shared. Fortunately, hardly anyone pays cash these days, so it’s not as bad as it could have been.

So what's the real deal with this DNA thing since VV's official post is pushing rumour as fact. I understand who's doing it but why?
It builds information on sobriety when driving from all detectable intoxicants. Notwithstanding the local tinfoil it isn't a DNA thing, nor is it the Police.
The samples are sent to the US for testing and determine the presence of drug (prescription and non-prescription, legal and illegal).
I'm assuming VV's tipster didn't actually do it - or they're profoundly unaware of their surroundings as you get a long preample on what is being tested, how, by whom, and anonymity.
But now this VV post should keep the chronically paranoid going for a couple weeks. Time for some bolded and underlined comments!

They give data. How far it is trusted in making decisions is up to the decision makers. I would assume that most folks with an illegal drug in their system will decline the survey though.

You can trust the data if you acknowledge that the presence of a drug does not necessarily equal impairment. Unfortunately, various lobby groups seeking political change often present a positive test result as equaling impairment.
Pete Gauthier on the DrugWarRant blog debunks this with a number of excellent posts:
The continuing saga of stoned driving

Maybe if it was the hockey teams bus on the way to the game.
