The massing and vertical emphasis does much more to suggest an "old town" character than simply cladding the thing in red bricks.

Will anyone else be attending Jackerbie's stoning in the town square?

Is it still a stoning if they use red bricks?

Is it still a stoning if no one gets stoned (in the Victoria sense of the word)?

You can't stand in Centennial for 10 minutes and not get stoned.

I thought there was no such thing as second hand impacts from marijuana?

Looks fantastic, which I'm sure means it will take 2 years to get approved.

You think they'll rush it through?

lol

Something this reasonable, I'm sure it'll have to go to the Planning Dept at least 3 times and get rejected by council at least once.

It was a very funny comment, but not quite that funny.

You mean the way the Northern Junk proposal is being "rushed" through?

Love the Store Street side, waterfront side is just ok, would like to see something a bit more impactful or noteworthy (photo worthy). Is that a stairwell facing the water? If so, at least they used glass instead of concrete or panels. Although a vibrant coloured transparent glass might be fun.

It should fly though because they’re not being greedy on height. It’s a height carbon copy of the Janion. I actually prefer the harbour rendering more than Store frontage. Can’t stand the balconies in the front. It’s going to be crappy bikes and BBQs out there. I do like the lack of setback but also that is one of the narrowest sidewalks in the city as it approaches the Janion plaza.

I suppose the fewer bikes one sees downtown the better... ;)  The future strata could pass bylaws against both bikes and BBQs on the balconies, so perhaps your worries will be unfounded. I am just so pleased for this gap in the street front to finally get filled.

All their seeking is a slight height variance of one floor. And there will be a walkway from Store down to the pathway.

Know it all.

It's Thursday today so that means Victoria's condos are empty investment properties vacation rentals filled with ordinary Victorians and all of their junk? Where's Sid Tafler when we need him?

Yes, unlike Northern Junk.  I might be fine with the original NJ but a lot of pitchforks make for a harder approval.

I couldn't make the meeting and, I think this question's been asked before here, sounds like you know the answer....Which side of the new building will the walkway from Store down to the pathway be, north side or south side?

I'm guessing north, just because the entrance to the parking at Janion's on the north so, for pedestrian safety better to have it further away from that. Having said that - where's the entrance to this parking for 135 vehicles in the new development? I think maybe I need to go back and look a little more closely at those renderings.

I believe it will be on the south side but I’ll have to confirm.
