Hudson Place Two's Citified profile: https://victoria.cit...on-place-two-2/

Hudson Place Two is the final phase of the Hudson District development by developer Townline. The tower's final height has not been decided, but it is expected to be proposed at 17-storeys at minimum. Townline is currently building Hudson Place One, the upcoming tallest building on Vancouver Island.

^ Affordability shouldn't enter into the mix, since the zoning is already in place. As long as they don't ask for any variances, Council will be limited to comment on the architectural form and character.

Right. And they might actually ask for a few variances like they did with HP1, but they won't be monumental.

Or Duncan, or Port Hardy or any of dozens of other less expensive communities in the province.

You keep peddling this anti-development hysteria yet there's never been more projects completed or underway from the last four years than in the 30+ years I've been living in Victoria. Not from any of those "great" development mayors like Bob Cross or Alan Lowe. We've actually built or are building several rental buildings which is a big improvement over the total ZERO number built in the last few decades. Every other thread in here talks about how most projects are a year behind schedule because of the shortage of construction workers.

Yeah but then we had an election on Saturday and council changed.

I encourage you to go to together victoria website and read their platform. Combined with Issit and Loveday they now represent 5 out of 9 votes on council

The discussion on rental development has moved to the The residential rental market thread.

Townline has applied for the development permit for this building. There are no renderings yet but it will be a rental apartment building with first floor commercial.

More details are available now.  Although the city says that this will be an "apartment" building, it will be stratified and 235 units are planned over 23 storeys.

Some renderings:

I didn't realize this project was going to be so tall. I thought it was only going to be about 17 or 18 stories.

Although Merrick's images were probably massing studies rather than actual renderings, it would have been nice to see those sort of angles. This final piece of the Hudson project is pretty dull.
