Count on death being inevitable, but someone has already overcome it for you. All you have to do is just believe.

That mere belief is required to overcome the most material and sure loss humans face is the most paradoxical truth ever conceived. Gods ways are higher than our ways.

The largest nuclear explosion in history, Tsar Bomba, had a blast radius of around 150 miles. The Bangor Submarine Base is around 40 miles from Victoria.

It goes without saying that either China/Russia will drop the largest weapon they possess on Bangor, so Victoria and half of Southern Vancouver Island will be glass if that happens.

Add into the mix Esquimalt Navy Base, Ault Field, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Bremerton Naval Shipyards, as well as lesser known places that are near, or at the top of the "hit list" - like the Jim Creek Naval Radio Station just east of Arlington WA (rumoured to be at the top of Russias targets in a nuclear exchange, and 60 miles or so from Victoria), and there's no doubt we'll all simply "be gone" should a nuclear exchange occur.

If anybody is going to cheer on anything at all, cheer on a peaceful resolve.

Being gone would be a good thing, I don't want to be alive after a nuclear war.

It’s week two of our supporter drive and we have reached 35% of our goal, thanks to our loyal readers. We hope you’ll join them today!

Over the last five years, Capital Daily has brought important and in-depth journalism to thousands of local people. We are unique: no other small, local outlet has our track record of award-winning in-depth and breaking news coverage.

But publishing each day costs money, and a struggling economy and the dominance of social media advertising continues to threaten the existence of media organizations across Canada. Capital Daily is no exception. We launched our membership program in 2021 and have survived the last four years thanks to the hundreds of people who have signed up as Capital Daily Insider Members. Every newsletter that you receive is thanks to their support.

But they aren’t enough. We need you to help, and we need your support now. We need at least 200 new members over the next month to keep pushing forward or, at least, keep our heads above water.

That’s why they are a billionaires. They sell the people their access to advertising that they sell to corporations and government.

Dear reader,

Thanks to your friends and neighbours, we have reached 60% of our goal at the halfway point of our supporter drive.

Some of you may be thinking, why do we need to run a supporter drive like this? Well the short and sweet answer is that Capital Daily is not sustainable.

Our publication isn't just struggling to make a profit—we're fighting to survive. With our small, specialized team pouring their hearts into every story, we're constantly walking a tightrope between continuing our vital work and bringing in enough dollars to keep the lights on.

Why your support matters right now:

Your $2 weekly contribution (less than a coffee!) directly funds the talented journalists who bring you the stories that matter in our region. Without more Insider members, we simply cannot sustain our team or continue our mission.

With your support, you’re not only helping our team reach sustainability. You’ll also get access to Insider-only perks and exclusive content, like tomorrow’s Sunday edition. As a free subscriber, you’ll hit a paywall every Sunday, but members get full access to every newsletter we send!

Dear reader,

I'm writing to you because we're down to the final week of our supporter drive, and we still need 26 more Insider members to reach our goal of 200 new supporters.

This isn't just another fundraising email. This is about the survival of the journalism you rely on. An annual subscription is just $2 per week, but we won’t be able to keep the price this low. With the challenges we’re facing, we know we’ll have to increase the prices soon, so get your membership now!

Become a member today

We've come this far together. We're at 174 new members, which is incredible—but not enough. We need you to be number 175.

Thanks to our incredible community, we’re almost at our goal, and we know that with your support we will be able to surpass it!

A bit strange.   A big push to get $2,100/mo. more revenue.

A TC reporter makes about $1900 per week.

So what they are trying to raise here is like 1/4 of a TC reporter salary per month.

Our supporter drive officially comes to an end today, and it has been one of our most successful membership drives all thanks to you! We beat our goal of 200 new Insiders and even surpassed the 300 mark. The outpouring of support has been so meaningful to our team.

Thank you for showing your support for the work that we do. If you haven’t signed up yet, there is still time! Sign up today and you’ll get full access to this Sunday edition, instead of hitting that pesky paywall that you see today. For those of you who have already signed up as Insiders, there is no paywall in sight for you!

Now on to today’s news.

EVERY DJ uses it.

It's just like any monthly music subscription but then also has software to let you beat mix it and have two songs cued up.

When you look at and/or download each song, it shows you the beats per minute (BPM).  Generally, you only try to switch seamlessly between songs with similar BPM levels.  In lets you then sync them as you transition from one to the next.  It makes it VERY easy for anyone to become a DJ with only an hour or two of practice.   All the deck makers have it set up for Serato software.

86 people have stepped up. Will you?

We’re nearly halfway to our goal — and we need your help.

Hey again —

This is what keeps Capital Daily going: people like you deciding that good journalism is worth it.

So far, 86 new members have joined.

But we’re still short of our goal — and the truth is, we can’t keep producing in-depth stories – like Local leaders voice opposition to BC’s proposed infrastructure act or Province orders Oak Bay to change bylaws to meet housing targets – without your support.

Just $2/week fuels everything we do — from breaking news to community-driven features.

Help us reach 200 new supporters this month
