^Oh, sure. You want term limits on the councillors you dislike. You'd play a different tune for someone you think is doing a great job. It's like listening to Republicans on impeachment in 1998 vs. 2019.

There's 2 things wrong with this statement:
- NO ONE should hold a council position longer 3 terms - be that the Madoffs, the Isitts or the Youngs
- You're presuming I LIKE any councillor

Presuming you had been re-elected in 2011 & 2014 your 3rd term would have ended in 2018.

I would have engineered a Putin/Medvedev-style swap to keep me in power.

Did she just announce? I'm pretty impressed with some of these websites. In past years how many times have you clicked on a candidate's website and it says "PLACEHOLDER TEXT HERE" and "Check back soon!". These people are hitting the ground running.

Only heard her name for the first time yesterday, and I don't think she's had a formal campaign launch event. Given the ever-declining numbers of news reporters around, the website launch is the campaign launch.
Slick website templates are easily found these days. And Together's successful 2018 campaign has forced every would-be candidate to improve their game online.

Candidate websites used to be a hilarious source of pathos and bathos but lately they're pretty slick. Templates help but you still need solid content.
Did I tell you about Jane Lunt in 2008? She tried to get her seat back on council after a long absence. She just reprinted her old black and white pamphlet with her 1980s headshot. That was it. No website, storefront or social media. Even back in 2008 it was crazy for someone claiming to be a serious candidate.

Are you sure she's not really a TV candidate?

We need to maintain our current economic prosperity while we rapidly transition to a more inclusive, diverse and sustainable economy.
Tourism and government services, how do you get more inclusive diverse and sustainable than that?
Are we going to get rid of the city's coal mine or what?
Sounds like she is running for MP rather a muni council.
Definitely fits the TV mold.

This sounds like it's taken directly from the "Fuzzy Economics" chapter of the Together Victoria manifesto. It means nothing other than an appeal to those who for some reason feel guilty for living in this part of the world.

Yes, at last this city will be freed from the shackles of fascism and the oppressive police state will come to an end.

How about this "Maintain and improve upon a strong economic foundation that enables people to live sustainable lives and supports our small business and tourism sectors." At the municipal level, this would mean ensuring the tax burden on small businesses and property owners is manageable, working towards improving the efficiency and cost of local transportation, working towards amalgamating the core (Saanich, Oak Bay, Victoria, Esquimalt, View Royal), enabling the local police services to function with adequate funding and enforcement of local bylaws (including clamping down on public intoxication and the sale and distribution of illicit substances), helping business owners cope with the impact of the homeless/opiod crisis by providing support to them to keep their properties clean and welcoming without resorting to iron fencing, demanding those asking for municipal funding demonstrate an ability to achieve value for money - and redistributing resources when a group fails to achieve on its objective.
I suppose tourism is beginning to be tarred and feathered due to the carbon emissions caused by travel. So even, what was once considered "green industry" is now no longer green. People really seem to have lost a true sense of what is or isn't good for the environment, and now are ever consumed with virtue signalling and feeling overwhelmed by the climate crisis.

Not only should you run for local government AJ, but you need to be cloned so you can fill multiple positions.

Next up will be the tech industry. Rich 20 somethings are running up housing prices and not contributing back to society right?

Not going to happen this by-election. Need to make room on my plate first, 2022 is a maybe, 2026 is likely feasible. Of course by then I'll be too experienced to be viable and will lose all of my youthful allure as I'll be broaching 50. Cloning is a hard no - but I'd be happy to help support those who are like minded.
