The Belarusian Olympic Committee said in a statement that coaches had decided to withdraw Tsimanouskaya from the Games on doctors' advice about her "emotional, psychological state." It did not immediately respond to a request for additional comment.

one person should not likely be competing in all of 100, 200, and 400 events.

it’s mostly women athletes with the problems.

djokovic.png

Here's Djokovic breaking one racket after throwing another into the stands after losing his Olympic singles tennis match, shortly before withdrawing from the mixed doubles competition, denying his partner a chance to win a bronze medal.

BTW, Djokovic had earlier criticized Simone Biles saying "pressure is a privilege."

And just a friendly reminder for folks to stand up and stretch periodically. It would be a shame if anyone had to cut short their criticism of Olympians' shortcomings due to an unfortunate keyboard athlete injury.

The back-story with Biles is that ritalin is banned at the Olympics and she isn’t able to perform without it.

It’s not exactly the heroic situation the media is making it out to be.

Ritalin is allowed with a Therapeutic Use Exemption, which she has been widely reported to have.

I think this was more a case of the athlete seeking asylum in Japan and the "handlers" trying to get her out of the country before that could happen.

She did not get an exemption for ritalin.

It is not one of the drugs eligible for a therapeutic use exemption.

You can tell she lacked the intense focus she normally has when competing.

Simply put, you're completely wrong.

Methylphenidate (Ritalin) is not approved for use to treat ADHD in Japan.

There are other drugs that are approved, the she may have got an exemption for.

But no exemption for Ritalin.

Sounds like Poland has offered her asylum. Her husband and child have fled to Ukraine.

You're just wrong. The US Olympic Committee even shared the forms that an athlete uses to import "banned" substances under a Therapeutic Use Exemption. They literally used Ritalin as an example in the forms.

On further investigation, it does appear she may have been able to get an exemption.

Her inability to perform remains a mystery.

I have seen lots of men with issues as well.

In addition to funding, sponsorships, and media opportunities which are all tied to podium success, athletes now have social media to deal with. It would be extremely stressful for anyone.

No medal and a lot of questions. The post-mortem on Rugby Canada's Olympic performance and the turmoil that proceeded it is set to start.

Former sevens captain Jen Kish spoke out this week saying in a social media post, saying there are players in the program "who have contributed to the very same environment that they have gone public with regards to John Tait."

The first thing they need to do is fire Charity Williams for her behaviour.  She is by far the biggest bully there.

The captain will “retire” and I am sure a few others will follow her out the door. This is what always happen, a few instigators rile things up and then leave. The organization is then left in a mess. As soon as the players refused to accept the findings of the independent review they should have been shown the door. Never happens though.

Don’t know what they mean by objecting to “centralized” training. Are the players saying they should perhaps be working from home?!

Let's strive for accuracy here ... it's not that she "may" have an exemption, she "DOES" have an exemption.

As noted above, you were simply wrong in your statement.

Can you imagine trying to coach that group?  What a nightmare.

They certainly won't be getting another $10.5M given that performance.  The mens team only received $130k.

I think it will depend on their ranking. Top athletes get paid very well by the taxpayer.
