Some of us are trying to think of the kids, that is correct. Alcohol and drunk adults do not belong where children are expected to be.

Given my experience with how Rifflandia has gone, I hardly suspect there's going to be problems with alcohol consumption around kids here.

Since children aren't allowed to drive, just give them the alcohol and let their parents watch from the play area.

There seemed to be decent sized crowds at the Paint-In today.

I can't say for certain what sort of brouhaha resulted from the presence of the beer garden as I didn't visit it.

It wasn't too bad. I was there right at the start. Crowds definitely started to grow mid-day.

There were more paintings displayed than trees along Fairfield’s Moss Street on Saturday as crowds gathered for the annual TD Art Gallery Paint-In.

It was one long stretch of artful sights and sounds, from the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria just south of Fort Street to the Dallas Road waterfront — nearly two kilometres that took about half an hour to navigate if you only stopped to avoid bumping into the people packing Moss. The art gallery, which runs the annual event, estimated the turnout at 30,000-plus.

At that point you're just stuck in a crowd.  Not sure how anyone can enjoy the gallery feel of it and browse comfortably under the direct sun.

And yet 30,000 people did enjoy it.

Do we have a thread for the Van Gogh attraction? Have any VVers weighed in with their reviews?

I'm waiting for somebody to paint me a picture. But please be concise. Don't feel like you have to chew my ear off.

It's OK, I wasn't blown away by it.

I give you a point for brevity but I was hoping for a more colourful impression.

Or at the very least, a post-impression.

Seriously though, what's the show itself like? Is it loud? Do you stand around, sit down, walk around? Would it be enjoyable for small children or the elderly? (not elderly children, but rather elderly adults) How about for people with mobility issues?

When I attended, you sat in a room either on a bench or on the floor and the story is projected on three walls of the room. Young children were there but didn't seem immersed in what was going on. Wheelchairs are fine, you have your own seat. If you're interested in Van Gogh art and his story, you will find it interesting.

Thanks. I've been canvassing for opinions and I'd say you framed yours well.
