Eventually you will have lots of people that have had covid-19 and fully recovered. They shouldn't have to social distance or stay at home. Are people going to have a letter from the health authority to allow them to go back to normal life

Settle down. I’m just saying it’s far easier and more common to blindly hate trump than to blindly support him

Seems quite equal from where I sit.  He is like cilantro it seems.

Our neighbours certainly aren't being responsible. They've been nothing but trouble since they moved in several years ago (noisy music in the middle of the night, shouting arguments, their dog jumping the fence into our yard and digging things up). A couple of years ago they vanished, the house was empty but then a succession of people seemed to be staying there. Right now, the couple who have been staying there are still there, the owners are there and two guys with a moving van are there, bringing stuff in. I hope to god they're not moving back, they are a pain in the ass. So at least six people all now mingling. Plus a yapping dog.

Pfizer also is working on the development of a COVID-19 vaccine alongside German firm BioNTech. The two companies, which announced their partnership last month, remain on track enter human trials by the end of April, Dolsten said.

He said the companies now expect — if the vaccine is successful and regulatory approval is granted — to be able to "supply millions of vaccine doses by the end of 2020."

At present there is no antibody test. When one is developed we will be doing testing. That direct from Dr.B. Today.

Update from Stephen Andrew:

Update. I’m going to be here at the hospital for a bit.

The lung x-ray came back and to quote the internist “didn’t look good”. Clinical observation: Bi lateral interstitial pattern on chest X-ray

Basically signs of pneumonia. But we don’t know if it’s viral or bacterial.

The Covid test comes back tomorrow. That will provide some clue.

They will keep me here until I don’t need oxygen.

Should be getting a room soon.

The Parliamentary Budget Officer added his harsh tidings, saying the federal deficit is set to reach $184 billion this year – 8.5 per cent of GDP – thanks, in part, to the $2,000 a month emergency response benefit, which he estimated will cost $22.3 billion.

^ ^ glad to see you insisted on tests/hospital care.

the us has 5-minute and 15-minute tests, too bad we still have the old school lab tests that take a few days.

Two researchers from Göttingen University claimed countries have only spotted six per cent of all COVID-19 cases, on average.

But the team also claimed that the rate was even lower in the UK, at just 1.2 per cent - suggesting the true size of the outbreak was up to 5million.

Rates - which the researchers said were true up to March 31 - were also staggeringly low in Italy (3.5 per cent), Spain (1.7 per cent) and the US (1.6 per cent).

Covid patients may need different ventilator settings. Or maybe no ventilator at all!

What’s driving this reassessment is a baffling observation about Covid-19: Many patients have blood oxygen levels so low they should be dead. But they’re not gasping for air, their hearts aren’t racing, and their brains show no signs of blinking off from lack of oxygen.

All public policy from now on should be based solely on epidemological models and nothing else. Bill Gates is in charge now plebes. There's no turning back to the way things were. If you even sneeze off to jail. I saw a kid on a bike in my street today so I called the cops.

bc numbers:

Henry said there are now 1,370 confirmed cases in B.C. Of those, 858 people were considered to be fully recovered and were no longer in isolation.

There have been 82 confirmed cases on Vancouver Island, up one from Wednesday. There are 626 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 508 in Fraser Health, 130 in Interior Health and 24 in Northern Health.

There are 132 people are in hospital. Sixty-eight people are in intensive care or critical care units.

Not everyone who might have COVID-19 is tested. Guidelines from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control limit testing to people who are hospitalized or likely to be hospitalized, health-care workers, residents in long-term care, and people who are part of an investigation for a cluster outbreak. That means there could be more cases of COVID-19 in the province than what has been confirmed by tests.

The massive army field hospital that hundreds of troops built inside a Seattle convention center last week will be dismantled before treating a single patient.

Instead, it will be redeployed to a state facing a more difficult battle against the coronavirus outbreak, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said Wednesday.

Nearly 300 soldiers from Fort Carson, Colo., and Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) near Tacoma, Wash., built the makeshift facility inside CenturyLink Field Event Center, normally home to the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Sounders of the MLS, for patients who do not have COVID-19.

"We requested this resource before our physical distancing strategies were fully implemented and we had considerable concerns that our hospitals would be overloaded with Covid-19 cases," Inslee said in a press release.

With New York looking to have reached peak, it makes me wonder why we're still making thousands of ventilators.  It feels a little much.
