Rising as tall as ten-storeys from its eastern frontage, a multi-parcel redevelopment along the 4200-block of Glanford Avenue and the 700-block of Enterprise Crescent (near Mann Avenue) could deliver over 250 condominium residences throughout three buildings. One of the properties included in the redevelopment is the former home of the Bird of Paradise Pub.

Interesting design. Anything will be better here than the Bird of Paradise.

that's quite ambitious.  why not fill in the centre of traffic circles and the off-ramps too?   who says they have to be grass?  all big cities have buildings under and around highway interchanges.

Same architect as Rhodo in Fairfield it looks like. SHAPE was also involved in the redevelopment plans for Richmond Centre.

All elevations and landscape plans are on Saanich's website, here: https://www.saanich....ions/carey.html

Any idea why in the article there is an Elevation and not a Rendering?

Some addition details from an updated article:

- there will be a light industrial component to this project, and some 17,000 square feet of commercial/retail space

- 39 units of rentals will be included, 19 of which will be managed by CRD Housing and rented for below market

- a childcare space is envisioned with spaces for 50 kids

- it's unlikely a pub will materialize in the project if the childcare centre goes forward

There are renderings on the project profile here.

of course.  because simple laws of probabilities suggest that sooner or later those kids and the alcohol will mix if co-located.  it's inevitable.    :whyme:

anyway i dare them to name this "paradise" something.  or incorporate "bird" into the name for that matter.

I like it. It's different with a resort-like vibe.
