It would be fascinating to know what reaction the BC Libs get from Falcon throwing out Rustad. My guess is that among people who bother to respond it would be almost entirely negative. Too much like Trudeau punishing people for having “unacceptable opinions.” Whether it will cause a ripple in the general population I have no idea. We seem generally prepared to accept almost any dictatorial decree from politicians these days (though the museum fiasco was a notable exception.) But at this point it looks to me like an own goal.

Well, assuming the BCGEU ratifies this, that should start a domino effect of collective agreements/bargaining:

- Year 1 – effective April 1, increase all rates of pay by 25 cents per hour and then increase all rates of pay by 3.24 per cent.
- Year 2 – Effective April 1, 2023, increase rates of pay by the annualized average of B.C. Consumer Price Index over 12 months starting on March 1, 2022 to a minimum of 5.5 per cent and a maximum of 6.75 per cent.
- Year 3 - Effective April 1, 2024, increase rates of pay by the annualized average of B.C. Consumer Price Index over 12 months starting on March 1, 2023, to a minimum of two per cent and a maximum of three per cent.

It feels like the union gave up more than the employer.

Its up to 2% more. Not huge, but it IS more. The minimum pay increase is close to what the maximum previous offer would have been.

That doesn’t look like much more than originally offered.
In my 30+ years with the Public Service, I never really witnessed the union playing hardball.

There will be some short lived outrage, but I'd be surprised if the offer isn't accepted. I doubt many people want to go on strike.

98% of the response I’ve seen to this so far has been outrage and calling it insulting. Will be curious to see if membership ratifies it or not.
That's what I'm hearing too. It could be a close vote. The grid reclassifications may make enough members happy to vote it in.

But they cap rent increases at 2%. talk about hypocrisy! I guess landlords are not the NDP's union friends!

The shirt maker describes the intent behind the shirt as “bring out the knives if necessary” to protect trans kids.

If you wear a hammer and sickle shirt, are you supporting an ideology that hinged on genocide, mass murder, concentration camps and oppression, or encouraging people to vet candidates?
