A schematic depicts a development proposal by the Royal Canadian Legion Prince Edward Branch #91 for the 700-block of Station Avenue in downtown Langford. The legion's plans include a six-storey affordable rental building for seniors that will also house a food bank, and an adjacent two-storey legion complex with a banquet room and 17 lodging spaces for the Wounded Warriors organization.

Nice complementary development for the "Mackie" as well. Good stuff.

Huh, so this is on the same side of the street as the Alexander Mackie Lodge, huh? So the two story building replaces the current Legion building and the 6-story building is where there's currently a large parking lot.

Who owns the properties on the other side of Station Ave here, which is essentially just a big disorganized parking area at the moment?

Might that be the rail right-of-way, Danma?

The Woodbridge branch of the Royal Canadian Legion has been shut down by the national body for an unusual reason: It had been infiltrated by outlaw motorcycle gang members.

The decision by the Legion's national executive was delivered in a letter to members of Branch 414, also known as the MacKenzie branch, dated Feb. 12.

"It is with great sorrow that I inform you that the charter of the MacKenzie branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Provincial Command has been revoked due to the branch's overt association with outlaw motorcycle groups," says the letter, signed by the Legion's provincial president, Derek Moore.

"The overt wearing of outlaw motorcycle club colours at Legion events and premises is contrary to the Legion's Articles of Faith and disrespectful of the sacrifices made by our Veterans."
