It's not either or. This is your narrative you are crafting not mine.

Sorry, but it's your narrative. Here's what you told us:

There was still a fishing industry in Sooke just 30 years ago. Over fishing and climate change didn’t ruin it, logging did.

I'm afraid there is no evidence to back this up.

Ok. Fair enough. But I clarified my claim for nuance. Instead of off the cuff statements.

There is plenty of evidence.

I could turn that into a few million dollars of studies but I don’t have the right friends….

If you had taken the right jabs you would have them in abundance.

The friends I would need most likely didn’t get them either. That crap isn’t for them.

Must always keep the fear level high.

Every single wildfire started on the Island so far this year, numbering about 30, has been human caused, according to the Wildfire Service.

Slow-starting Island wildfire season not guaranteed to stay that way

Local fire departments are keeping a close eye on wooded areas that border their communities

The media is very upset thy can't report lots of fires.  But they are hoping they still can.

Exactly. The media and/or the climate terrorists may need to set a few fires themselves to ensure the general public stays sufficiently frightened and compliant over the summer.

Yes, the wildfire itch has set in.

There was one fire reported on the 19th. Human caused, east of Port Alberni. Another reported today, west of Port Alberni, likely human caused, just off a road and no lightning in the area to have caused it. Both fires are under control.

Wildfire danger rises to 'extreme' on south Island

Recent warm weather has quickly dried out forest floors, triggering the increasing danger rating

It didn’t take many hot July days to dry out the forest floor on southern Vancouver Island enough to trigger an “extreme” fire-danger rating.

And the recent spate of hot weather is not expected to end any time soon in Greater Victoria and other Island communities.

There are 320 fires burning in B.C. right now, and only one on Vancouver Island is under control.

It’s very different from last summer.

So far this year, the Coastal Fire Centre has seen 58 wildfires compared to 174 last year on the same date. Even more compelling is that so far this year, 35 hectares have burned compared to 79,000 hectares last year.

“We are expecting more hot dry weather over the course of the next month, so we hope that people are still being vigilant, still recreating outdoors responsibly and doing their best to report a wildfire when they see one out on the landscape,” Bellion added.

Temperatures this week are expected to be about 10 degrees cooler than last week, but no major rain is forecast.

~20-25 degrees and sunny for the next two weeks? That's perfection.

I suspect it'll be smoky though, which won't be much fun.

'by the water' temps likely. It'll be warmer for most.

EV forecast I find much closer to reliable, though still cooler than actual unless you're close to water: https://weather.gc.c...5_metric_e.html

You are citing airport weather.

Most people will be closer to what I posted.

okay? 19 degrees at 9 AM... it'll probably hit 25 like forecasted. Like I said - perfection.

I don't agree with you - I think most people will be closer to the 'airport weather' than the 19 degree highs you're posting.

UVic right now, 18 degrees: https://weather.uvic...hp?name=UVicISC
