Yes. I was quoted $55k for a little bit of driveway work. Not happening.

 

The problem at the moment is that firms still have to pay their staff what they have been paying them and materials costs have skyrocketed. The adjustment will come when firms downsize and rates for new hires get reset.

Rebecca Sanders – who has been looking to purchase property in Victoria during the past few months to get out of renting – called it “multiple offer madness.”

 

“With rising rates, I didn’t expect so many people to be bidding on the same property,” Sanders told Black Press Media. “It was a little disheartening. It really was madness as the price kept going up with all of the offers. I was told to maybe try not asking for an inspection to get to the front of the line but my real estate agent said that was a bad idea. So I had to drop out of the bidding.”

MM on the base?



A proposal to bolster CFB Esquimalt with more housing is gaining steam a day after B.C.’s premier discussed the idea with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Premier Eby said he talked to the Prime Minister Wednesday about “opportunities that we’ve seen in relation to, for example, military housing” at the base.

According to Eby, “there was a receptive audience” and he indicated he was optimistic about a deal getting done.

Been thinking about a largish reno. But prices are killing me

Same here. Est $125 - $175 m but, as you say, at the current prices, think I'll do it myself. 

When there's this much work, quality can suffer as well, for many reasons.

$875k is correct according to BC Assess.  They have done renos it looks like.

The three that have sold, you might expect "missing middle" to be approved there anyway.  Two major thoroughfares, and one on that little bit of Caledonia, where all the blocks along there have some townhouse or small apartment blocks.
