Well well well.

Lucky To Go is launching a shuttle service to fill the gap left when Wilson’s Transportation suspended their YYJ Airport Shuttle, with no restart date set.

Mandeep Rana, CEO of LTG Technologies, which operates Lucky To Go ride-hailing and Easy Shuttle Ride service, says the shuttle will operate two lines that run to the ferries and near the airport – one from downtown Victoria, the other from Langford.

“We saw this opportunity of running the shuttle bus services back and forth to downtown from downtown Victoria to the airport and the ferries, as well as we’ll be opening up a new line which is called the Langford line,” Rana said. “We got the license from the Passenger Transportation Board in December, and we are ready to operate the business as of next week.”

Currently, the shuttle can drop passengers off right at the Swartz Bay terminal, but for the airport, the drop-off will be on McTavish Road.[attachment=32634:F7170BB1-877F-496A-86F7-2BE96A26835F.jpeg]

CHEK says they are waiting for comment from the Airport Authority. I would be interested in knowing how much they want Lucky To Go to pay for permission to pick up and drop off passengers ... and if the Airport Authority is even willing to engage in such discussions with them.

The airport authority gets a large chunk of money from Yellow Cab for the exclusive right to pick up taxi passengers. We don't know exactly how much because airport authorities are exempt from FOI laws.

Yes, it's a bit of a broken system.
