Point Ellice House Museum and Gardens is reopening after a change in management.

Forager Foundation took over the interim contract in May and will be hosting its first public event on June 24.

“When Forager Foundation was asked to take an interim contract to keep the doors open at Point Ellice House, we were excited,” Forager Foundation founder and president Bryce Mathew Watts said in a news release. “Now, we are ready to welcome the community through the doors.”

A Victoria heritage house that closed earlier this year due to a lack of funding – with an interim manager appointed – is changing hands once again.

Forager Foundation was appointed in May by the province to manage Point Ellice House Musuem and Gardens. On Wednesday (Dec. 13), Forager announced in a statement that management would now be transitioned to the Metis Nation of BC starting Jan.

There is a Metis connection I think via the Work family and the connection to Catherine being born in Fort Simpson?

It closed last spring due to lack of funding. Is there more funding now? Or this operator can work it out with less?
