A BBC presenter has been accused of paying a teenager for sexually explicit photographs, beginning when they were 17, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported that the unnamed male presenter had paid the alleged victim tens of thousands of pounds.

It is understood that the BBC is looking into the allegations, and that the star is currently not scheduled to be on air in the coming days.

The Sun said the young person's family complained to the BBC on 19 May.

The allegations, first reported by the Sun on Friday, are that the BBC presenter paid £35,000 for explicit photos over a three-year period.

The young person's mother told the paper her child, now aged 20, had used the money from the presenter to fund a crack cocaine habit.

She said if the alleged payments continued her child would "wind up dead", the paper reported on Saturday.

The Sun said the young person's family complained to the BBC on 19 May.

The family is reported to have become frustrated that the star remained on air and approached the newspaper, but said they wanted no payment for the story.

A BBC spokesperson said on Friday: "We treat any allegations very seriously and we have processes in place to proactively deal with them.

"As part of that, if we receive information that requires further investigation or examination we will take steps to do this. That includes actively attempting to speak to those who have contacted us in order to seek further detail and understanding of the situation.

"If we get no reply to our attempts or receive no further contact that can limit our ability to progress things but it does not mean our enquiries stop.

"If, at any point, new information comes to light or is provided - including via newspapers - this will be acted upon appropriately, in line with internal processes."

So what you have there is the BBC feverishly reporting on the scandal allegedly involving a BBC presenter.

BBC:  Rest assured, we've suspended someone.

The BBC said Sunday that it has suspended a leading presenter who is alleged to have paid a teenager for sexually explicit photos.

As senior British politicians urged a rapid investigation, the broadcaster said it was working to establish the facts of “a complex and fast-moving set of circumstances.”

The U.K.'s publicly funded national broadcaster was scrambling to head off a worsening crisis after The Sun newspaper reported allegations that the male presenter gave a youth 35,000 pounds ($45,000) starting in 2020 when the young person was 17.

Neither the star nor the youth was identified. Amid speculation on social media about the identity of the presenter, several of the BBC’s best-known stars spoke up to say it wasn’t them.

Though the age of sexual consent in Britain is 16, it’s a crime to make or possess indecent images of anyone under 18.

^ BBC has the breaking news.

Now, if only the crack BBC investigative reporters have contacts in the BBC they can likely break the news of who it is.  Someone should start a spread-sheet.

THE BBC is getting calls from more members of the public about the behaviour of the presenter at the centre of the sex pics scandal, sources have claimed.

Cops have been contacted by the BBC after it suspended a star accused of paying a teen £35,000 for sexual pictures.

The presenter has not been named, but is a familiar face known to millions.

Now a Beeb source has told The Sun: “The BBC has started to receive calls from the public about the behaviour of the person at the centre of the investigation.”

The presenter apparently made two panicked calls to the teen after we revealed claims he gave the youngster more than £35,000 since they were 17 in return for sordid images.

He allegedly rang last week asking: “What have you done?"

The irony here a bit is that the Sun newspaper broke this news.

The same Sun newspaper that published dozens of topless photos of Samantha Fox in the 80's, when she was 16 (the age for distribution of images has been raised to 18 now, the age of consent is still 16).

So you can have consensual sex with someone that is 16 or 17, but you cannot send even privately explicit images of one another.

Now a curveball!

Claims made by the mother at the heart of the BBC presenter scandal are "rubbish", a lawyer representing the young person has said.

In a letter to the BBC, the lawyer makes claims that throw doubt on the story that has dominated front pages through the weekend.

It says the young person sent a denial to the Sun on Friday evening saying there was "no truth to it".

However, the "inappropriate article" was still published, the lawyer said.

A spokesperson for the Sun said: "We have reported a story about two very concerned parents who made a complaint to the BBC about the behaviour of a presenter and the welfare of their child.

"Their complaint was not acted upon by the BBC.

"We have seen evidence that supports their concerns. It's now for the BBC to properly investigate."

BBC News does not know the identity of the young person and has not spoken directly to them.

It has not seen any of the Sun's body of evidence, or the dossier the Sun reported was handed to the corporation by the family over the weekend.

In their letter, the lawyer writes: "For the avoidance of doubt, nothing inappropriate or unlawful has taken place between our client and the BBC personality and the allegations reported in the Sun newspaper are rubbish."

The Metropolitan Police are "assessing" information from the BBC over the allegations made against the presenter.

https://www.bbc.com/...t-arts-66159357

And now almost everyone knows who the presenter is.  But nobody wants to name him.

The BBC, one of the world's most trusted news brands, has devoted much of its resources this week to covering the story of whether one of its top presenters was involved in the sexual exploitation of a child.

Statements are conflicting. Accusations are uncorroborated. And reputations hang in the balance.

But the BBC has not answered the question foremost on the minds of many people consumed by the exhaustive coverage — precisely who is the eminent personality who now stands accused?

https://www.cbc.ca/n...tions-1.6903763

"Everyone in this building knows who it is," said BBC radio host Sarah Montague as she pressed BBC Director General Tim Davie on Tuesday to publicly reveal the name.

Davie, who is facing intense scrutiny for the broadcaster's initial response to a complaint from the then-teen's family, declined to do so, citing a difficult balance between "duty of care, privacy and public interest."

Since a certain presenter has not shown up to do the 10pm news this week, we all know who the person is. But it’s a fun game to not name him.

There’s a movie in theatres right now about sexual predators, and how they prey on/traffic children. It’s getting peculiarly bad press, when in reality, is shines a very bright light on the extent of this scourge.

It’s called Sound of Freedom.

The BBC is staring down a significant financial shortfall, with an estimated £84,750,000 black hole looming as the corporation struggles to maintain its broad public service broadcasting in the face of declining licence fee revenues.

With 500,000 households a year cancelling their TV licences, the corporation is reportedly being forced to consider drastic measures to survive. The licence fee currently costs £169.50 a year.

BBC’s highest paid presenter has been fired over anti-semitism.

However, the BBC said Monday in a statement that Lineker will step down entirely from the corporation after the final Match of the Day episode next weekend in the wake of his decision to share a post from the group Palestine Lobby that included a picture of a rat, titled: "Zionism explained in two minutes."

Rats, linked to disease and dirt, have been used to represent Jews in antisemitic propaganda throughout history, including by the Nazis in 1930s Germany.

"I have stood up for minorities and humanitarian issues and all forms of racism all of my life, including of course antisemitism, which I absolutely abhor," he said. "There's no place for it and never should be."

Gary Lineker will lose out on an estimated £800,000 after being forced to leave the BBC without a pay-off following his anti-Semitism controversy.

Lineker sacrificed any severance in a mutually-agreed departure, and Telegraph Sport also understands the contract extension to host his podcast on BBC Sounds has also been torn up. But sources close to the corporation say the decision to drop him was made primarily by BBC chiefs who had run out of patience with his outspoken political views.

Major controversy. A couple of BBC big wigs have walked.

British Broadcasting Corp. Director-General Tim Davie is resigning from the UK national broadcaster amid allegations it misled viewers by editing President Donald Trump’s remarks in a Panorama documentary last year.

Article content
The BBC on Monday apologized for the editing of the program, which aired in October 2024 and spliced together sections of a speech Trump gave in Washington on January 6 2021, the day of the post-election riot at the US Capitol.

The documentary made Trump appear to say that his supporters should “walk down to the Capitol” and “fight like hell.” In fact, he said they should “cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women.” The “fight like hell” remark was from a different part of the speech.

News chief Deborah Turness also resigned, and in a letter to the House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee on Monday, the broadcaster’s chairman Samir Shah, acknowledged the edit of the Trump speech “did give the impression of a direct call for violent action.”

The fallout has echoes of Trump’s clashes with media channels in the US. The president settled a lawsuit against CBS News in July shortly before the Federal Communications Commission approved a merger between CBS parent Paramount Global and Skydance Media. Trump also reached a $15 million settlement with ABC over allegations of defamation.

The controversy erupted into the open last week after Michael Prescott, a former independent adviser to the BBC’s editorial standards committee, accused it of “systemic bias” in coverage of Donald Trump and a memo drawing attention to the Panorama editing was leaked to the Daily Telegraph. Turness was one of the editors Prescott singled out for criticism.

Article content
The resignations cap a turbulent year in which the BBC was criticized for airing a documentary on Gaza that failed to disclose the protagonist’s links to Hamas, and its highest-paid presenter – former footballer Gary Lineker – stepped down over social-media posts that broke its neutrality guidelines.

Following the Panorama revelations, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt last week described the BBC as “100% fake news” and a “leftist propaganda machine” that was “purposefully dishonest.”

That’s incredibly misleading. So who’s gonna correct the leftist narrative?

If you ask anyone with TDS they’ll tell you Trump planned and executed an insurrection on J6 using his brainwashed followers. Which is clearly not the case.

It no longer matters. The impact is meant to be destabilizing in the moment, and whether what was reported was true or not is irrelevant years later.

Trump has become a millionaire many times over with all the lawsuits he has settled with media companies. They settle, because disclosure before the courts would be damning and expose so much more about the system.

How does a guy universally praised and admired and desired by the elites turn into the most hated, least admired and most troublesome figure? Maybe it’s for the same reason you reach for a Coke and not a Pepsi.
