Sounds reasonable, actually.

I think a flush toilet rental for a building with more than 25 workers will be a very tiny portion of the build cost.  It's just one of these:

They've never been required them before. Not sure why they are needed now. Just more unneeded regulation from the masters of red tape.

Could be more women on the jobsite. They like cleaner bathrooms.

From everything I have ever heard about women's bathrooms the opposite is true.

yes, workers used to be a lot cheaper, in fact they were sometimes “free”.

Let me rephrase it then.

They like cleaner bathrooms, they do not always leave them cleaner.

Then the fewer amenities they have to mess up, the better.

Maybe because shi*ting in small box day in and day out that after possibly hundreds of uses has not been flushed and using slimy goo to clean your hands is a bit dehumanizing and unsanitary?

Then find another line of work.

How much more do they cost?

It’s in the customers best interest to have sanitary workers. If they’re just using that slimy goo, sanitized yes, but there’s probably bits of things all over your new place

At least the old cowboys could dig a clean hole, enjoy the fresh air, and watch the sun rise while smelling the local wildflowers!

I guess this new legislation is designed to reduce the need to smell 3 day old human waste swimming around in a giant vat of reeking blue chemicals, all just prior to eating your lunch, and all while desperately trying not to puke.

I don't have a problem with this rule but it smacks again of NDP overreach. I would suspect that good employers already provide a similar service as it is a competitive market for employees. The NDP solution then is to regulate everyone instead of just dealing with the handful of miscreants.

Now the employer can more easily justify charging the customer more money for a “fancy” toilet.

Allow people to build their own homes again.

The rule change some years ago requiring owner-builders to go through that crazy testing regime, while any bloke can show up to build as part of a licensed crew to start swinging hammers is nuts. The same inspections are conducted whether you build or someone else builds. And for people who know what they’re doing, the savings can be immense, like we’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Know it all.
Citified.ca is Victoria's most comprehensive research resource for new-build homes and commercial spaces.

The step code is well beyond common sense. I built a passive ish house. It cost 50% more than a regular custom house. My home would not pass the final net zero code.

Just because some regulation is good doesn’t mean all regulation is good.
