Why don't you open up your house to the homeless?  Got a backyard, allow 10 tents to be placed there.

If I am moving why would I move to Saskatchewan?  I'll move to a place like the Bahamas where taxes are zero.  I wonder what would happen if every Canadian who pays 6+ figures in income taxes left the country.  Can you support the growing government, endless buying of hotels and open sewers?

There’s lots of reasons people don’t leave. The argument of “ if you don’t like it, leave” is just terrible.

Then move, and stop crying, like you advise others to do.

Or are you one of those liberals, that doesn’t practice what they preach? Sounds like you’re too woke to see it, though.

whatever Mr NDP.  I am a proud Conservative and believe every homeless needs a kick in the behind and not more government handouts.  Like all socialists you think the government has a bottomless pit of money, no idea where the money comes from and money just falls from the skies

Tenters, report to Mike's house ASAP!

You give of beta male energy, as the kids would say, with this sort of nonsense.

Act like a grown man or find some place else to boast about your wealth. Ok?

and you act like a communist and obviously very poor with little ambition as the kids would say.  Probably one of those welfare drug addicts with their free cell phones downtown.  You sit at your computer complain about the share change of $10-20/month you pay in road tax and repairs for roads, now that is a beta male.  Sorry you are mad that I made it and you didn't, I know your type, that is what you are.  how's that for tit for tat?

for a guy who runs a construction/development forum and citified site you seem to know very little about what is going on.  You don't have a clue about the former Dodge site, Gorge Rd, Northern Junk, Dallas Rd, the Scene and probably many others.  good luck, maybe they should rename this site www.sidewalksuperintendents.com

That was quick. I missed this yesterday. This has to be a first on VV.

A brand new thread about a seniors home that focuses on veterans...safe as a bird on a wire...right?

One and a bit pages....and boom!!    Chaos.

Priceless.

A controversial 192-unit housing project in Central Saanich that previously failed is again being brought forward to council for consideration on whether the public should have a say.

In October, Central Saanich councillors voted down in a three-to-three tie to bring a 192-multi-unit complex, with some affordable units, to public consultation.

The decision was met with backlash, and many attended a Nov. 4 council meeting demanding that the project be revisited, which proved successful.

I'm sure this project is needed. But the drawing is one of the ugliest buildings I've ever seen.

A proposal for two buildings containing nearly 200 rental units — including affordable rentals for seniors — previously blocked by Central Saanich council will head to a public hearing after all.

A plan to send the joint proposal from Aryze Developments and the South Vancouver Island Housing Society to a public hearing failed in late October on a tie vote, but at a meeting earlier this month, councillors decided to take another look at the project.

The development at the corner of Hovey and East Saanich roads would see five single-family homes replaced with a six-storey building with 62 rental homes for seniors, and a four-storey building with 130 rental units, 13 of which would be rented at below-market rates.

This week, councillors voted to send the proposal to two public hearings. On Dec. 9, the public will have a chance to weigh in on proposed changes to the Official Community Plan, while a public hearing is set for Jan. 13 on land use bylaw amendments.

Luke Mari, principal of development at Aryze Developments, acknowledged the project is not compliant with the OCP, but said the plan hasn’t kept pace with the district’s housing needs.

Central Saanich residents packed municipal hall Monday night to have their say on a controversial development but left in frustration after the public hearing was cancelled.

“I’m not trusting the process right now. I believe that the members of the public are here to speak, and they should be able to speak,” said resident Jennifer Wear.

Central Saanich residents filled municipal hall Dec. 9 intending to make their voices heard on a proposal by Aryze Developments for 1934 Hovey Rd. which would feature 197 units in two buildings that would house seniors, veterans and health-care workers.

The affordable housing project was planned in collaboration with the Saanich Peninsula Hospital & Healthcare Foundation, the South Vancouver Island Housing Society, and the Royal Canadian Legion.

The decision to cancel the public hearing followed a recommendation from staff who received new information Dec. 3 from the applicant, noting that the development application would be revised in response to community input.
