This is quite the view home community, on the southern face of Skirt Mountain, along the 2100-block of Bear Mountain Parkway.

The Ridge is the first phase, comprised of 93 residences in one and two-bedroom (plus den) penthouse condominiums, and ten three-bedroom townhomes. You can see the building under construction now from much of Langford when looking towards Bear Mountain. Completion is expected by the end of 2024.

Is there a condo with better views out there? I don't think so, not currently.

Out where? Let's not start this again.

Seriously though, did they ever build any kind of highrise or jr. highrise there? Wasn't that supposed to be part of the plan?

I didn't mean there. I meant there, in the pics shown in your post #1.

One Bear Mountain must be one of the biggest projects ever that local development enthusiasts know almost nothing about. Seriously, what's it looking like right about now?

I don't know about biggest, but it certainly is one of the W-I-D-E-S-T.

You've seen it with your own eyes? You're willing to testify to that effect? The most recent pic in the dedicated thread for it is from June, 2023.

Urban sprawl is alive and well in Greater Victoria. Sad.

Why is that sad? I think we're going to see a paradigm shift that comes with the shift to hybrid workforces for knowledge workers. Many like working from home, but still want a smaller place like a condo, however not all want to live downtown. So smaller village centers with several condo buildings make sense. Call it urban sprawl, sure, but that doesn't make it a bad thing.

It's not gonna be the 15 minute walkable city though because its unlikely every little village area is going to have ALL the services someone would require. It may have many though.

This is what the government wants, and it’s what people want too. Suburban sprawl is wonderful.

This is why our real estate market here on salty went so bananas in 2020 and 2021. Everyone and their dog wanted an acre with a cute house and high speed internet. You can indeed have it all.

Very few people in their 20s (ok, maybe late 20s) to 50s wouldn't trade in a condo for a five acre lot with a quaint little home on it.

It makes sense to convert something already built with lower density to something much higher, but demolishing forested or agricultural landscape to build is certainly not the right thing to do.

No wonder we have more of these nowadays. Good luck to all.
