It's pretty obvious who funded the dirty (half) dozen's election to the CoV council in 2022 and to whom they answer - and it's NOT the majority of the residents of Victoria.

I wonder how many of the group are going to try and use their experience in council to step up in employment to bigger and better things when their time is up .

They do seem very enthusiastic to quickly please the ndp government .

It is the route Helps took all a long  . The citizens of Victoria are just the ponds in the game.

I had a thought yesterday as I was up and out of the house and on the road much earlier than usual.  I was surprised to see so many other people travelling at such an early hour. Where the heck was everybody going at 6:00 AM? I was thinking while I was driving about all of the social ills that we as a society are experiencing of late, and remember thinking that these early risers are definitely not the problem...or are they?

Let's take homelessness as an example. Homelessness is not the problem, it's a symptom of a lack of money. In all fairness though, the lack of money is not the real problem, it's a symptom of a lack of employment which is something that my fellow early risers do not have. It has been stated by some that the lack of employment is not the real problem, but is a symptom of excessive drug use... something that our political systems and social networks seem to be helping to facilitate.

Are our politicians and social enablers the actual problem?...or are they just a symptom of something much greater? They could fix these social dilemmas if they wanted to...right? It would seem however, that the majority of our local, provincial and federal politicians have organized a cabal of like minded socially fixated enablers whose goal is to change the way we collectively experience this thing we call life.

Should we be worried about the future? What started this gradual change? Is this change a problem or a symptom of something which might be more devastating?

Maybe all those early risers are the problem. They are much too busy providing for their families and striving to obtain their own goals than to get involved in politics and governance.

Maybe we are the problem.

Early risers are the worst. I prefer to sleep until 10 or 11.

“The incident from Pandora Avenue [Thursday] may feel like a wake-up call, but it only reflects one piece of the trend our front-line officers have been experiencing,” he said in a statement, adding the problem isn’t limited to the 900-block of Pandora.

In an incident in the 500-block of Ellice Street on June 17, a “large number of community members surrounded and threw rocks at officers, creating a volatile situation,” he said.

"It's not limited to 900 Pandora".  It's also at one of the other homeless encampments.

McKenzie has estimated that about 90 people are currently staying along Pandora near Our Place.

I tend to agree with one of the posters on the VV Facebook page: perhaps it is time to run a snowplow along the 900 block of Pandora.

“Officers and other first responders have every right to feel safe during the course of their duties, and to return home safely at the end of their shift.”

See, but aren't we doing the same old song and dance that we've done many times before? Police and first responders are people too, aren't they? If they face verbal abuse, aggression, spitting, volatile situations, etc. while they're in those environments then what about everybody else? What about people who live there, work there, patronize businesses, own property, or regularly pass through by foot or by vehicle? What about the gal who walks down Pandora tonight for the first time in her life for no particular reason whatsoever?

Is "the right to feel safe" applicable to everyone or is it reserved for the select few?

Ya.  Sidney RCMP responded the other day all the way into Victoria, pretty sure a random stabbing victim does not get that.  Or the guy shot to death on Pandora.

You can buy your way into first-hand views and experiences of Pandora:

Curious, right? Any time I mention what I see or experience when downtown, some people claim it’s not true, that it doesn’t happen to them therefore it doesn’t happen.

Police say they were pelted by rocks in June at the Rock Bay shelter? We’d have never known. Imagine if a random passerby had been injured? The same voices of disbelief would claim the victim was telling tall tales.

Know it all.
Citified.ca is Victoria's most comprehensive research resource for new-build homes and commercial spaces.

I stop regularly at Russell Foods. It’s shocking how bad that area is. Why do we allow this? Who is it helping aside from the folks making union wages who aren’t making things any better?

At least 6 of those voices can be heard at the CoV Council table.

It's sickening that an organization like SOLID is getting my tax dollars to open another slow death camp.

We just drove all the way over to the city public works yard to get rid of garden waste, and it wasn't open! What a waste of time and energy, but along Ellice St. by Ellice recycling, wow, have never seen it with so many tents.

Yes because Victoria has made themselves an enabling magnet for homeless .

^ as I’ve said before.

Victoria now has more homeless per capita than any other jurisdiction in all of North America.
