^ Definitely, which likely shows both the age of the person writing the comments and their preferred beer halls back then. Man when I think back to those type of places, they were so soulless.

New hotel could rise from ashes of Plaza Hotel in downtown Victoria

Ocean Gate Developments, the Vancouver owners of the site, has unveiled a plan for a new 150-room hotel and large outdoor public plaza

https://www.timescol...ictoria-5886060

Victoria has lost about 1,000 hotel rooms over the past decade due to hotel conversions to rental accommodation, seniors housing and other purposes, and Mairet said only 380 of those rooms have been replaced.

Boooiooooooooooring.

380 rooms have been replaced as hotels? Which rooms are those?

Francis Mairet. Am I in the right thread? lol.

I think he moved on from Atlific Properties and started a consulting biz and looked after the reno at the hotel across from the Marriott, the one with the Starbucks on the bottom, whatever it’s called.

Loved my time at the Marriott, but they weren’t good employers.

Any bets this is just a marketing ploy to get BC Housing to buy the site?

Harbour Towers? But I caution all decent citizens to resist the temptation to ponder those "other purposes", lest they end up pointing the proverbial finger in the wrong direction.

I think the Harbour Towers Hotel was converted to rental apartments a couple of years ago.  Its now called The James at Harbour Towers.

I guess it depends what "Victoria" means in this context? Since 2010 have there been any new hotel rooms added in Victoria city?

It's not true what they say about Mike K. Sometimes he's actually right.
