The big question is, how many people will actually wait for the light to change before crossing? At the first opportunity many will dart at least halfway, then the other half. The issue with so many pedestrian crossings installed where jaywalking is frequent is the lights aren’t properly used as people will not wait.

Drove into town along Blanshard this evening, looks like the Kings Road crosswalk between Hillside and Bay is complete and operational. Should be a big boon in walkability for those in the neighbourhood.

Here is my first set of pics on the dreaded mid-block walkways. I will keep posting pics as I go by them or through them for the next week or two.

I love these pictures, if for no other reason than they redirect the conversation from the Douglas & Caledonia project thread!  :)

ps: Millie's Lane is great, I only wish the theatre side was more animated. A mural featuring classic movie images along this side might be nice.

A few more...

Just for full honesty I didn't take a picture of the walkway between the two housing buildings on Pandora as someone was getting medical attention.

We built it, they never came. So we’ll keep building it.

Even the French eventually gave up on the Maginot Line.

This is actually a good one between Meares and Fort. There is a small courtyard and there actually were a few people there. I just didn't feel like taking their picture.
