Don't make me pull out that stamp!

A crane is also up at Wade. I should get out there and snap a photo.

That's an interesting 9/11 memorial on the left side of the above photo.

Imagine what this could have been like if the towers had varied from 10-15 floors in height?

There will be at least two 12 storey buildings in the near future further down Esquimalt rd and on Admirals.

I won't believe this is true until they are built and occupied.

Fair enough, although the old Legion building is fenced off with equipment on site and they have started demolition

Lots of good things happening in Esquimalt; as a kid and teenager I grew up and lived in Victoria (Oak Bay, Gordon Head) in the 60's and 70's, then later coming back from living (twice) in West Side Vancouver (in Gordon Head again) and in 2001 (James Bay-Beacon Hill) and later CSV-Fairfield, I fail to understand why some people even today continue to feel the need to rag on Esquimalt.

This isn't the "pongo-ville" many of us remember so well from the 70's after all, any more than Colwood-Langford-Metchosin today is the 'dog-patch' of that area circa the same time frame. Quite rightly its been a very long time since I heard the term "Langford Dinner Jacket". Times and places change and so should people, and especially their attitudes and pre-conceived biases.

Quite aside from the redevelopments noted above including the City Hall-Townsite precinct, the old Legion and proposed towers at Head Street, and the WestBay Quay development, not to mention all the great things happening in immediately adjacent neighborhoods like Songhees, the Railyards and Dockside Green, there are some fantastic neighborhoods here that compare favorably with anything in the CRD, including Selkirk (our hood), Parklands, Saxe Point and Rockheights-Fernhill.

I saw and heard far more cop car-sirens living in, ahem, 'toney' Fairfield-CSV - not to mention in Kitsilano on YVR's hyper-expensive west side - than I've ever experienced in our neck of the woods. My immediate neighbors include a naval senior commander from CFB Esquimalt, a partner from a major law firm downtown, an architect and a provincial deputy minister - hardly the wretched refuse. The next time you're in the presence of someone who feels a need to run down the municipality "just because" you might want to remind them that 1971 is 48 years ago.....

Yeah, the whole “Esquimalt is the bad side of the tracks” thing was pathetic even back in the 90’s.
