False start. Porter was seriously delayed. AC is going to win. Not sure where WJ is can’t find it.
Those were yesterday's flights. Westjet doesn't fly daily, and Porter only this week started their redeye. So tonight (Friday) is the first day that all three are operating together.

This will be a fun race to watch tonight.
3 different airlines, 3 different aircraft manufacturers, all scheduled within 25 minutes on the same route (Victoria to Toronto).
A race for limited number of gates at YYJ, they have to push aircraft off the gates in the evening that are remaining overnite to the remote de icing stands just to make room

Whoops. Glad we did not lose that WJ plane.

Seems logical. A lot cheaper to do that than build new gates.

There are a couple times during the day where no gates are available on turns, where the jet has to hold burning JetA till the aircraft is pushed off the gate. All it takes is a late flight, a flight having issues on the stand or a early flight.
mid morning there is 6 jet arrivals, in one hour.

The occasional time an aircraft is in that situation won't cost nearly as much as growing the terminal.
Flying is expensive enough, we don't need to be throwing money (that will ultimately be paid by passengers) at gates that won't be fully utilized most of the year. The airlines chose to add flights understanding the capacity limitations at the airport. If that means they burn a little more fuel from time to time, or park at the pads off of gates 3 & 4 and board by stairs like many regional airports across the country do, then so be it.

Valid point money wise, but stairs and wheelchairs, walkers, strollers and isle chair requirements become a departure delay factor. In a perfect world, OTP but down line delays add up quickly and making gate changes and having to have more ground equipment requirements gets expensive as well.
The VAA already has plans to push East ward with a larger pre boarding area, and an addition bridge before 2027.
The airlines have been begging for more room when multiple flights are operating off 3&4 and 12&13.
Airlines that use bridges:
Alaska E175
Air North 737
Air Canada 737 / A319 / A321
Flair 737
WestJet 737
Porter E195

That, however, is not Air Canada, but its low-frills cattle run equivalent.
Of the three, it's the only one that operated with a Premium cabin. The WestJet flight was operated by a former Sunwing aircraft which in most rows is tighter than the Rouge aircraft. A321 is wider than the 737, so definitely more shoulder room. Porter is all economy but wider still and have some rows towards the front with extra leg room, but most of the rows have equal or less pitch than Rouge. No middle seats, though.
Westjet
Row pitch:
Seats 2 to 14ABC: 29"
Seats 3 to 14DEF: 30"
Seats 4ABC: 30"
Rows 15 and 16: 38"
Seats 17 to 30ABC: 30"
Seats 17 to 22DEF: 30"
Seats 31 and 32ABC: 29"
Seats 23 to 32DEF: 29"
Rouge
Premium Rouge
Collins Aerospace Spectrum First seats
Row pitch: 36.3”
Seat width: 21”
Recline: 5”
Economy
Collins Aerospace Pinnacle seats with integrated personal electronic device holders
Row pitch:
Rows 13 to 17: 30.4"
Rows 19 to 30: 31.3"
Rows 32 to 39: 29.7"
Seats 40 to 42ABC: 29.7"
Seats 40 to 43DEF: 30.7"

Sad that we have such lame choices. Rouge is absolutely horrible, or it was on the flight I took from Toronto.
Never, ever again.
It certainly is cattle class with Rouge, but YUL service is still on mainline AC.
Summer time draws lots of exchange students to the coast, we use to host students from Quebec who come for a month of English emersion, that group was close to 100 students. They use to take the non stop YUL run when it was Rouge on the A319, the students told us the flight was always full this time of year.

North Carolina has apparently been chosen as the location for a blended-wing-body aircraft manufacturing site, and though the company behind the plan has yet to be named, reports indicate the firm is California-based JetZero.
Several sources say North Carolina intends this week – perhaps on 12 June – to announce the project, which may be located at Greensboro’s Piedmont Triad International airport.
JetZero, one of the the most prominent firms developing a blended-wing-body aircraft, declines to comment. But it notes North Carolina was a finalist among several states it has been considering as the home for a production facility.
