Yeah, but with the modernist blue/grey recladding that it wore for many years.

It's been a while since we've indulged the great spandrel debate, so allow me to fan the flames again. Part of me is happy that they've chosen a different colour than the standard seafoam green, but part of me is unhappy because the dull blue colour that they chose reminds me a lot of the modernist cladding on the old BC Tel building that used to occupy the corner of Blanshard and Johnson (now part of the footprint of 800 Yates). Does anybody have a pic of the building that I'm talking about?
I like the look of the grey spandrel. Still not a fan of spandrel but at least on HP1 it ties in nicely with the glass

Like on the right side of this pic... (behind the traffic light)
Anyway, just a bit of a quibble. Quibbles 'n bits.

It's almost as if the more Victoria changes, the more it stays the same.

I seem to recall that when the land assembly took place for the whole Hudson development, in its earlier incarnation, those corner properties wouldn't sell. They ended up planning all the development not to include the land. I wonder whether that was actually a good or a bad move for those owners.

I don't remember the Douglas/Caledonia properties ever being considered as part of the Hudson development. I am sure someone will correct me, but I don't think they were ever part of the Radius and whatever other name the Hudson Walk site was previously known.

...If I recall correctly there was a proposal for a one story restaurant there by the actual property owner.
That would be a terrible use for that location. I am glad it never happened.

You're right. They never were part of the Radius plans. However, I remember the developer saying on TV that they had tried to pick up the Red Hot Video and those other one story old buildings but the owners weren't interested.

Telephoto lenses are rather distorting aren't they?

Using a zoomed phone through a spotting scope eyepiece is far from the best setup. Gary H has the equipment to get a much better shot.

They are going through a lot more air than a regular picture...
I only meant that the distance between objects is highly compacted. I did not intend to cast any aspersions towards the quality of the photo.

Dumb dumbs...
They won’t seem dumb when the City pays 3x what the properties are worth to build affordable housing.

Hey laconic. Do you have one of those plastic adapters for your iPhone and binoculars that they keep advertising on the internet?

Sadly, no. The spotting scope is in a tripod. First I adjust the scope to the correct image. I zoom the phone camera to maximum so that the camera will pick up a smaller square image within the view, rather than the full circular image. Then I slide the phone's camera hole back and forth across the eyepiece until it picks up the image.
The whole process is a symphony of finesse and cursing.
