Not like floatplanes unless you need that crofton Vesuvius route, lol. People are suggesting now they just cut the sailings down to one watch, so at least it’s reliable.
All getting tough...

Learned two things today.
The Whitespot restaurant which is still gutted for HVAC work and has been closed since COVID took off, won't reopen.
VVA has been touting gutting it and opening the area up but also looking at putting in smaller food outlets instead, like a Subway Express in the mall size with other " opportunities"
Also, terminal expansion planning meetings are starting, this time the East side of the terminal will be opened up more space for both passenger and airline use, with an additional bridge and apron area.

Will the larger terminal be able to accommodate all the non-existing international flights out of YYJ?

East side being where the check in counters are (and above)?

Does it matter? It can get pretty busy on a summer day. With only 4 bridges and jets that use the bridges operating to Toronto (3 airlines)/Montreal/Calgary (3 airlines)/Edmonton (2 airlines)/Ottawa/Whitehorse/Seattle there are definitely times where delays can overwhelm the existing capacity. From my observations, gate 12 seems to have conflicts when the Q400 Westjet gates are in use, because they block that approach. So it can't be used to full capacity.

On a busy summer day they’ll process something like 3,500 departures. That’s a lot of people for a small airport.
I'm pretty sure you mean passengers, right?

Flair is adding two weekly flights to Winnipeg from YYJ, starting June 9th.

Whoa, that’s interesting. Any documents regarding the eastward expansion?
Master plan for 2023 on wards was released quietly. I was told planning processes have started with architects.

One of the shops inside the terminal, Breakwater Boutique in the Pre-Security with News papers and Gifts, finally re opened this week. Hours: 9:00a.m - 5:00p.m.
Also, don't know why the " estimated security screening wait times " is back on the website. Was told it was so inconsistent, the VAA removed it. But this month, the VAA is re launching the new website with a whole new one.

With very little notice we have to fly out Wednesday to Halifax to take care of some family business. We're going through Pearson, with about a 4 hour layover.
Its been almost exactly seven years to the month since I last went through that airport and given all the bollocks that happened there during the run-up to Christmas and into the new year, just wondering from anyone who may have transited through the airport more recently, whether all the snafus and backlogs have been cleared up? We'll only be on ground in NS for five days so I am toying with the idea of not taking a checked bag especially if YYZ is still a quasi-gong show......

I think the issue was in the summer when the security lines were extending to the check in area. Since there was no way to register when people got in line (usually done with a scan as you enter the security holding room), the posted times were not accurate. Haven't seen security lines that long for a while now.
