More like 2009.
Today's leading ride-hailing app by far, Uber Technologies, was founded in 2009...

I am assuming then that the Uber's have to pay the short term parking fee?

It's 1$ to enter the lot anyways, most other motor carriers have had to buy a annual swipe card to enter the lot thru the gate. They aren't cheap and require full cost to replace, VAA nickels and dimes everyone to death that uses the airport.

Actually I find it quite reasonable. The AIF is well below most other airports, and $1 is nothing for short term parking at an airport. Actually, you get 2 hours of parking for that $1, it's cheaper than downtown.

Well, YYJ is a small airport. It’s only right it charges less.
Sure, but they're still on the low end. Our AIF is $15. In Prince George and Smithers it's $25, Kelowna is $20 .. Prince Rupert is $46!
YYJ is the lowest among all the other provincial capitals - Winnipeg $38, St John's $42, Regina $20, Edmonton $35, Fredericton $25, Halifax $35, Charlottetown $20, Quebec City $35, Toronto $30.

I was more so referring to the stake holders and land tenants of the airport that are nickeled and dimed for fees and services charges. Parking is cheap, yes, but employers have to pay a steep cost for each employees parking pass to use the employee lot. I lost mine a long time ago when i worked there, my airline had to cough up 25$ to replace it with a stern letter from the VAA about loss and theft of their property

This could be an option for those who do choose to fly with Kenmore Air to Paine Field ( Everett ) WA.

I really don't tho, even if fast customs and once in the US, a domestic arriving flight to Hawaii.
Sadly I don't see Kenmore lasting very long this summer.

Alaska was quite a bit more from SEA including the transfer from YYJ.

It’s not likely to compete price wise with Air Canada and WestJet for flights to Honolulu. You can book one way for $260 bucks CAD or so right now, in fact, I did just that yesterday (though I used points instead but priced it out for comparison).

I don't think it could compete with any carrier, just another option for those, and there are a few, loyal Alaska Airlines travelers in Victoria.

Also, Air Canada and WestJet had terrible schedules to Hawaii, whereas with Alaska you could arrive in the afternoon. Much better schedule.

I booked 8:20 am YVR departure, landing at 11:50 AM in HNL. Thats pretty solid timing.
The evening one lands at 20:10 IIRC. Nothing wrong with that either.
Air Canada.

If you leave from YYJ you have to get up quite a bit earlier but you can still get there in the afternoon!
Interesting that flights leaving from YYJ and YVR are the same price.

Won't work. The first YYJ flight arrives in PAE at 12:20pm. The HNL flight departs PAE at 9:10am.

I hadn't checked that out, thanks for the leg work on that. I wish the best for Kenmore, but I don't see the route working.
Alaska Airlines twice daily service starts tomorrow, finally, but the second flight only operates 4 days a week, down from the 5 a few months ago.
Departure 115pm ad 325pm.
