Did this drop to just one flight daily? I do not see the later one on the airport arrivals or departures schedule.
The VAA Flight information display system ( FIDS ) at the airport and online is pretty unreliable.
For true flight filing try flightaware or flightradar24 sites for true info.

Two bits of news from Canadian carriers today.
In Ottawa, Flair is out and Lynx moves in.... flying to YYC from YOW and same plane ( thru - service ) to YVR
https://canadianavia...rowing-network/
Porter has made some more dedication to the west coast. I still believe YYJ should see a YYJ-YOW or YYJ-YUL this summer.
With the partnership with Air Transat, this will open YYJ up for lots of overseas connections thru their system. ( Europe, Caribbean and South America )

The Victoria Lynx flights are now through flights to Toronto. You can book to Toronto with a one hour stop in Calgary.

Kenmore's flight is once daily now. Schedule has extended through next summer. When I called when they first dropped Bellingham, they were unsure if the YYJ flights would continue at all beyond the end of this year. Looks like that answers that.
Of note, David Gudgel, COO of Kenmore Air (formerly CEO of Clipper Vacations) is on the 2024 Board of Directors of Destination Greater Victoria.

????
Wouldn’t the reporter just take a pause to think “300 spots doesn’t sound like a lot for our airport”?
While I can’t find the exact number of spots, 325 were ADDED just in 2016.

Several Canadian airlines dropped news this week.
Lynx has pushed more into the East coast market after announcing Ottawa to Calgary and Vancouver service a week ago.

Porter keeps moving with new routes to Montreal to Edmonton and Vancouver. Then drops this big news this week.

Interview with Porter CEO

I'm still hopeful for Porter will offer another route out of YYJ this summer.

For the summer AC currently has 8 daily YVR-YYJ scheduled. That's 592 seats each way.
Toronto is 2x321 rouge and 1x320 rouge. 196 seats on each 321 and 168 seats on the A320. Total 560 seats.
I don't think we've ever seen an AC schedule where they have almost as much daily capacity to Toronto as they do to Vancouver.
Montreal is a Rouge 319 so add another 136 seats on the days that that runs.... If you look at weekly seats that is more capacity next summer to eastern Canada than there is to Vancouver.
I would guess that overall there is more capacity now being operated by Air Canada into YYJ during the summer than even when we had the Calgary flights.

AC isn't competing with Westjet for the direct eastern Canada flights, though, right?

Not non-stop, but Westjet does offer connections to Eastern Canada via Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.
Non-stop they are competing with Porter and Flair.
