...about 1/3 of the foreign students that cone here on student permit do not even attend a physical class...
That's a pointed comment. Do we look like dunces to you?

______
There were 239,131 international students in 2011. In its 2014 plan, the government said it aimed to more than double that number by the end of the decade, as well as increase the number of students who would become permanent residents after graduation.

^ This seems wiser than using TFWs solely; bring in the students, they pay their way at full price, they get a good education*, and some will stay. Yet the government is talking about adding restrictions now, just because of housing? Fix housing, but that aint the way.
*I think they should crack down on institutions that don't provide the promised education, but that's a different issue. As for VW's anecdote re. students who don't actually get that education, if that happens a lot: don't graduate = you can't stay.

Is that where the prisoners learn arts and welding?
Jk.

Looks like a prototype commie block from the future that all those freedom convoyers have been warning us about.

When did the building open?
The lecture halls opened for business starting today, while the actual residences likely opened last week as move-in day was on Saturday. The building was still gated off last I was there August 24th.

So whatever happened to this project? Is it proceeding? I haven't been out UVic way in ages but in drone footage from this past summer there didn't seem to be anything happening in that area.

Understandable. It actually looks decent so I was assuming it was being held up one way or another.*

Wow, they've already started putting it up just as I'm away from campus on co-op will have to go check it out on one of my days off!
I also heard that there's activity going on again for the ECS expansion?
