By the start of September the first beer taps in Greater Victoria will start serving up Peninsula Pale – a Lighthouse Brewing Company beer created in partnership with Field Five Farm on the Saanich Peninsula.

A week later they should be on local liquor store shelves, says Jon Siewertsen, a consultant with the Esquimalt-based brewery.

One of the “original breweries in B.C.” and marking 25 years this August, it was time to release a new core beer, Siewertsen said.

Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. and Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre (SOFMC) have partnered together to install a local craft beer bar.

The company says it expects Phillips Beer to sell well at Save-On and the well-known craft beer company is honoured to have been selected to open the new bar.

“We are excited to partner with the SOFMC and further foster building community and local connections here in Victoria” said Robyn Skinner, marketing director at Phillips Brewing & Malting Co.

Fake news:

Canned heat: Island craft breweries seek to adapt under threat of aluminum tariffs

https://cheknews.ca/...ariffs-1239690/

For breweries on Vancouver Island and across B.C., the bottom line involves not getting crushed by the price of cans in an industry reliant on aluminum and steel amid the spectre and speculation of U.S. tariffs.

“The majority of the cans come out of the U.S., and that is a concern,” says Ken Beattie, executive director of the BC Craft Brewers Guild.

President Donald Trump’s executive order to impose 25 per cent tariffs on steel and aluminum imports is set to take effect March 12, and those costs will surely creep their way into your beer.

“What exactly that number is going to be is not entirely clear,” says Whistle Buoy Brewery co-owner Isaiah Archer.

Pre-manufactured cans cost less than 20 cents each.

Victoria meat shop carves out new relationship with Phillips Brewing

The new pop-up combines Roast’s signature dishes with the laid-back atmosphere of Phillips’ tasting room

The pop-up will feature a rotating menu of lunch and dinner options, paired with Phillips’ craft beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.

To accommodate the new food offerings, the Government Street tasting room will undergo minor renovations, including 30 additional seats and a refreshed interior.

“It’s all about enhancing the experience,” Carmack said. “We’re bringing our traditional menu, but also adding some upscale pub-style options to match the vibe of the Tasting Room.”

Beer lovers rejoice: Whistle Buoy Brewing Company is celebrating its 6th birthday with a raft of summer events.

Over the next four months, the Victoria brewery will be extending its Market Square patio, adding room for 200 more (293 total) folks to dance, hang and imbibe at five themed parties.

There will be live music, games, fresh beer releases and all-day beer gardens. While outside food is permitted, Los Panas Venezuelan Kitchen, Dumpling Drop and The Wandering Mollusk will be there to sling nosh to hungry attendees.
