Yeah, see, and that's sort of how I felt.
I think Johnk and I might be talking about the same place here. One deal on a big board inside the restaurant above the bar, then an altered and limited deal on the actual menu.
I enquired about the discrepancy and the manager did offer a discount, but it was a token amount compared to the actual advertised deal.
The money wasn't the issue, the issue was the nonchalant nature of the staff towards a major discrepancy.
The old advice to tourists here is that 'if you can see the water from the window, the water is all that you should be ordering!' There are a couple of exceptions to that rule but not many.

/\......meh, not a fan at all of B4; there are certainly better burger joints around IMO not to mention infinitely more interesting food outlets in South Granville. Speaking of which (burgers) has anyone yet sampled Johnny Rocketts' fare?

Tried to go to Savour for dinner last night - closed, and it is closed again tonight. Why do some places have such strange hours?
Went to Il Terazzo instead. It was packed all night.

Being closed for dinner on a Sunday seems like a poor business strategy to me.

Also, being at number 1 I think it's safe to presume they are financially stable and busy enough when they are open, so what's it matter what days they close?
There is one extremely popular local restaurant that closes over Christmas and New Years, or at least used to, which is typically the busiest time for restaurants of this calibre and that seemed odd to me. So one day I asked the owner why? He said they were full every night of the year, and wanted to take a week or two off per year, so what's the difference when?
I promise you, the owner of Il Terazzo isn't behind the stove seven nights a week either.
Matt.

Full disclosure, the Saveur owners are close friends of mine. They juggle the business, another full time management job, several kids they adopted (or they foster), and one new one on the way. They do a remarkable job with all they have going on, and I do not blame Rob for not wanting to open if it's not going to be perfect in the kitchen. Hard to leave that to a less qualified chef.

Hmm. Did you happen to catch that number, by chance? There's a Cinnamon Joe's up in Nanaimo.

There looks to be a new Starbucks going in on Fort between Cook and Vancouver, in the old Forge Gym location in the Mosaic Building.

^ That's the old Starbucks logo, not the current one. Could be someone else opening up shop. Remember Famous Originals' marketing campaign with Blockbuster signage?
