Yes, if you read the article I linked, the young agent paid for, and left with the alcohol in hand:

The decision says that on July 19, 2023, a 16-year-old minor agent entered Merridale’s store, selected a 1 litre bottle of cider with an alcohol by volume content of six per cent.

The minor agent then went to the cash counter, and the employee asked if he wanted to pay with cash or credit card. The minor then paid with cash and was able to leave.

A former brewery space on Millstream at Treanor will re-open as a distillery this November. Here’s the press release:

Ryes & Shine Craft Distillery, a new local craft distillery, is excited to announce its location at 103 2323 Millstream Road, in the heart of Langford. The distillery will be situated next to The Log House Pub and Liquor Planet, providing convenient access for customers.
Ryes & Shine is currently working hard to convert the existing brewery space into a state-of-the-art distillery, complete with a tasting room and cocktail bar. The transformation process is well underway, and the distillery team is committed to delivering a unique and memorable experience for visitors.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this vibrant community and to share our passion for handcrafted spirits with our customers,” said Kelly Darwin, founder, and CEO of Ryes & Shine Craft Distillery. “Our new location will allow us to provide an immersive experience for whiskey enthusiasts and cocktail lovers alike.”
The distillery plans to open its doors in late November, offering guided tours, tastings, and a variety of handcrafted spirits. Guests will have the opportunity to sample a range of spirits all produced on-site using locally sourced ingredients.

Weird, that's a pretty quick turnaround since the eviction, no?  Almost like it was in the works...  It's a great name though.

Oh, no doubt there will be gin as well, it's what pays the bills.  Quick turnaround.  Maybe I'm wrong. :)

speaking of, someone gifted me some gin. I don't care for gin and tonic. What are other good ways to drink it?

Gin is great in a lot of cocktails including the classic martini (with an olive) and my favourite, the Negroni.

Looked that up, that sounds good. I'll try it, with maple syrup instead of simple syrup.
