I couldn't believe a tiny lake in Missouri could have squalls but look how big it actually is compared to our lakes:

/\......if I were guessing that lake is likely either the direct result of or has been heavily influenced by US Army Corps of Engineers damming or other related navigable water project activities; I've seen some of them close up (Nebraska, Texas and Florida) and many are truly marvels of man made ingenuity and engineering which in some cases so profoundly change the natural landscape that they indeed create their own micro-climate events such as the squalls mentioned above.

http://www.victoriab...e-world-survey/According to 429,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers, Victoria is the 14th best small city in the world, outside the USA.
The annual Readers Choice Award ranking this year took a significant dip for our city, after Victoria was named the second best small city in the world in 2017. That spot has been taken by Salzburg, Austria and the #1 rank is retained San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
“As a former British colony, Victoria retains stately mansions and manicured gardens that are perfect for walking and gazing,” reads the caption for Victoria.
“Its mild climate and location on the southern end of Vancouver Island also make it an excellent location for outdoor activities.”
Condé Nast recommends tourists enjoy the great outdoors in Victoria by kayaking across the harbour and walking along Ogden Point. They even give a shout out to Red Fish Blue Fish – a Victoria staple restaurant best known for its traditional fish-and-chips.

We need to implement a forum ban on these ridiculous top-something articles.
Agreed. Also, 14th best isn't exactly award winning.

I really wish they were viewed by everyone as being ridiculous. Unfortunately, these articles sway a lot of minds and can make people change their travel destinations.

Ha ha check out the 3rd FB comment on that article: "choppers, muscle cars and dirt bikes" are destroying the ambiance of our little slice of heaven. Dirt bikes?! Really? I thought it was tongue in cheek until I spotted his link to the Right to Quiet Society:
Geez. I'm scratching my head trying to recall the last time a bucolic stroll along the breakwater was shattered by a rowdy group of Hell's Grannies rampaging along the Dallas Rd landscape on their dirt bikes......

We are the 14th small city, the seventh large town, the 28th smallest metropolis, and the 12th middle-sized incorporated area.

We're #14!!! We're #14!!!
#31 and #168 are ranked way too low, in my opinion.

Hotel occupancy, cruise numbers hit records as tourism sector continues to sparkle...
Bourree said there are several irons in the fire, including rumours of expansion at some existing properties and new buildings in Saanich and downtown Victoria.
Let's try to develop these rumours. Any thoughts?

Talking about hotels.
Posted 06 November 2018 - 10:49 AM
An upcoming phase at Bayview has been thrown around as a good candidate for a hotel. We also have the Apex Site downtown which could include a hotel component.
I have no idea about Saanich, but a hotel would fall under the type of use that an REIT could support so Uptown's residential tower could include a hotel component.

I believe a hotel was always part of the Bayview plan in the Lime Bay District.
