...from my house.
I never would have guessed. For some reason I assumed you lived 5 blocks further back and 10 blocks to the left.

I might be the five blocks back as I put a fair bit of zoom on that. 10 blocks to the left would put me almost at Central Middle!I never would have guessed. For some reason I assumed you lived 5 blocks further back and 10 blocks to the left.

If anyone was wondering why the carriageway was all walled off, it was to facilitate resurfacing with a more durable material. The old interlocking bricks were deteriorating and I assume that situation wasn’t going to improve with another ~300 stalls of traffic.

Random plug for living in the Hudson District: you save time driving home from anywhere north of downtown. Used to live in the Era and it was like a minimum of 5 extra minutes between Fisgard and home (and vice versa). And they’re very annoying minutes of bikes and lights and clueless people in the wrong lane struggling to merge out. Fisgard is like the transition point between normal traffic and stupid, inept downtown Victoria traffic. I was thinking earlier about how the Soverign is a building I quite like and how we probably could have bought a decent unit there for the price of our HP1 unit, then I thought of having to drive through most of downtown and the Humble Workers’ Bike Lanes every time I wanted to visit anywhere outside of walking distance and I shook myself. And then logged in here to post this.
Excited for the Herald St parkade entrance once HP2 is done. Seriously.

What floor are they working on right now? Must be getting close to the top.

From my view of the eastern facade, it looks like the rebar is in place for the 25th floor, but I sort of lost track a while ago.

Looks to me like fl. 22 is being worked on now. Windows already in place up to about fl. 17, at least on the Herald St. side.

Pro tip for anyone trying to figure out the floor of multi-storey buildings under construction. There is usually a construction elevator (in this case, on the Blanshard side) with the floor numbers marked on each floor. Then you only have to count off the unmarked floors above where it stops, and don’t need to figure out double height ground floors etc. Might have to squint a bit depending on your eyesight. I previously verified that the markings for HP1 are accurate vis a vis the actual floors by comparing the balcony layouts (“sky gardens” lol) against the blueprints. (Insert nerd emoji.)
Out of the country currently or I’d wander over and count myself:)

Huh. I had a gander this morning while on my way to work, and sure enough there are numbers on the Blanshard-facing side of the lift stack. The topmost one is 18, and it looks like the floor currently being worked on is the 24th.

I believe the supports for the 25th floor are now being put it place. The project should reach its full height* soon.
*with the exception of any height-extending decorative details

So will the crest extend partway down the front face of the building or not? Seems like the model is different from the renderings in this regard? Or maybe the effect is just very subtle on the model?

The lines are there, but would they actually be the continuation of the crest element or merely a visual trick to suggest the continuation of the crest element?
(I'm still not sure how I feel about that crest.)

At least it's an attempt to do something interesting to the standard flat roof.
