I saw two of the Best Picture nominees.

I saw exactly zero of the nominated movies in 2023.
I recommend watching Oppenheimer for sure. Poor Things isn't my normal cuppa tea, but I'll probably give it a whirl soonish.

but he was nominated for supporting actor so i wouldn't say that surprises me. anthony hopkins was on-screen for ~16 minutes in silence of the lambs & won lead actor; i think that's the lead-actor record. sylvia miles got a supporting-actress nomination for her part in midnight cowboy & she was on-screen for only 6 minutes. that's another stat i can remember. anyway there's all kinds of that sort of nerdy stuff on filmsite.org

Oppenheimer was widely expected to clean up and it did. It was an excellent film and RDJ richly deserved his Oscar IMO. His portrayal of Lewis Strauss, who was quite a complex individual during a tumultuous historical period, was first rate. Didn't bother to see any of the other nominated movies - pretty certain I'm not the target audience for 'Barbie' - but Oppenheimer was definitely on my 'do not miss' list.....

Is that all...? Yikes...
Barbie was worth seeing.
I'll never see it again...
