Thanks for those old articles, Rob!

And to answer the question - no, nothing has changed.

This driver turned right out of the gas station parking lot and didn't quite make it to the far lane, instead choosing to stop perpendicular to the traffic to try and get things straightened out.

And what's with this silly thing at the end of the video?  There used to be a button to stop it from dangling down but they took it away :(

Haha! I wasn't sure what was going on until I realized what you wrote you literally meant.

I was too fixated on the foam.

There are reports of a horse on the Pat Bay Highway near Elk Lake.

I got the email notification and read the text only.... I actually checked the barn to make sure all our horses were accounted for.... We back on to the Pat Bay Hwy.

The building across the street must be the original version of the building that currently stands? It looks like it had a great ground floor back in the day.

And the building in the distance at SW corner of View could be the one the grocery store is in now.

I don't see the elimination of more than 1500 parking spots over the years to come making the traffic situation downtown better.  I'd anticipate even more incidents as a result of congestion and agitated drivers.  Imagine all the feels of Christmas time parking headaches all the time in the core.  This is foolishness.

But I expect the City of Victoria will claim the increase in parkade usage is solely due to their amazing first-hour free program.

Again, it's more complicated than this.  These are private lots disappearing.  What would you like a muni to do to actually replace them or provide alternatives?

I'd love to see a derelict, vacant lot in Rock Bay transformed into a mixed use structure that would anchor redevelopment of the rest of the block. retail ground floor, then three parkade floors hidden behind a facade, and on top of that, a floor of art/maker/commercial space. Perhaps more expensive residential on top. Private or PPP developer, doesn't matter. Then maybe a shuttle bus.

People like to park where they are shopping not 10 blocks away in the middle of nothing.

Okay, two statements by you that seem to directly contradict each other. I'm thoroughly confused. Can you explain?

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parade park.

Saanich Police report an eastbound vehicle on McKenzie made a right turn onto the northbound on ramp and struck the skateboarder

who was crossing the entrance to the on ramp in a crosswalk at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The male sustained a head injury and was transported to hospital in serious condition.
