Sorry Dave, it looks too much like HAL 9000 for my liking.

SpaceX is hoping to test its cellular Starlink system as soon as next month through 840 satellites, according to an FCC filing.
The company filed the application for the experimental license this week as the FCC continues to mull whether to give SpaceX full authorization to operate the satellite-to-cellular communication service amid concerns about interference.
According to the filing, SpaceX is requesting “special temporary authority” to conduct the test starting on Dec. 10 through a period lasting 180 days. The goal is to test out the system in partnership with T-Mobile using the carrier’s licensed radio spectrum to beam the satellite connectivity to 2,000 test devices.

T-mobile is such a great cell provider, everywhere excepting China proper I get unlimited data and texts and calls for 25 cents a minute. No roaming charges, unlimited North America, no long distance charges, competition is beautiful.

SpaceX is set to launch the first batch of Direct-to-Cell Starlink satellites that will allow for global cellular connectivity.
“This launch will include the first six Starlink satellites with Direct to Cell capabilities that will enable mobile network operators around the world to provide seamless global access to texting, calling, and browsing wherever you may be on land, lakes, or coastal waters,” SpaceX wrote in its mission briefing.
The launch comes just after SpaceX received approval by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to begin testing the Direct-to-Cell system. During the 180-day testing period, SpaceX plans to transmit data from the cellular Starlink satellites to 2,000 test devices on the ground using T-Mobile’s licensed spectrum. This testing phase aims to pave the way for the eventual launch of the cellular Starlink system, starting with text messaging next year for carriers like Rogers in Canada, with plans to introduce voice and data capabilities by 2025.
SpaceX anticipates deploying approximately 840 Direct-to-Cell capable satellites over the next six months, with ongoing launches to ensure a critical mass for commercial service by 2024. However, SpaceX has only received clearance for testing from the FCC, facing regulatory hurdles for full approval due to concerns about potential radio interference raised by rival companies.

EARLIER THIS YEAR:
Per Bloomberg, Rogers will use Starlink low-earth orbit satellites to provide emergency services via text services. The two companies will also add voice and data coverage later down the line.
The goal is to bring emergency services to remote areas in the country where conventional wireless networks do not reach, including remote wilderness, national parks and rural highways.
Rogers Chief Executive Officer Tony Stafferi had this to say in a statement:
As the country’s biggest investor in 5G spectrum with Canada’s largest 5G network, Rogers is proud to work with SpaceX to expand wireless coverage across all of Canada, from coast to coast, to keep Canadians connected and safe. In the future, these investments will deliver wireless connectivity, including access to 911, to even the most remote areas.

“…A court order is required to obtain incoming call detail information. For call and text detail records, only information from the last 13 months is available. Any information beyond the last 13 months is not saved..”: https://about.rogers...hs is not saved.
Will “Starlink” have access to logged data? Will it be possible to conduct a “tap” from a different country?

he hasn’t done much in recent years, most of his information is now outdated, or at least likely is. Nowadays, I think he’s out to make money through speaking, and he hast to say something. and you have to assume he’s a “good guy”See Edward Snowden. That’s question has been answered long ago.
But yes, nothing is “private” on the Internet, you can try though. You can likely be successful defeating the bad actors, big governments less likely. I don’t know maybe you walk around with your pants down regularly
Almost every organization has had a data leak by now

I’m really impressed by his style. But just wouldn’t do business with him, nothing personal.

Yeah I think direct business would be weird. I'm happy to invest though...
Love how it's a 'recall' but not really. Headlines are fun.
