I know you're being tongue in cheek.
Maybe that's where you go to vote. I dunno.

Humour aside: Governance classes, political science, social studies could all fall under citizenship.

i had trouble figuring that out without clicking but it says office & career centre on one of the floorplans. not sure why they call it citizenship but I can't think of anything better off the top of my head :P

Most of the heritage tiles have been removed, but they missed 4 on this end.

I am surprised there wasn't more of an effort spent to salvage some of the materials.

That sure looks like good lumber up in the roof there.

When they demolished the old school on Carey Road they pulled all of the old growth fir 2 X 12's out, and someone from the US bought the whole lot.

As this school opened in 1929 you can count on those timbers being old growth fir as well. What a shame if they are just going to bust them up, but I suppose it costs too much to recover them.

it would gave been cool to salvage the lumber from the old school but i still like the one that's getting built. either way i think they'd have a winner. speaking of salvaging lumber, in today's news...

In response to a funding requirement to reuse portions of the existing warehouse that previously stood on the site in the design of the new 1202 building, approximately 100,000 board feet of salvageable structural timber and 200,000 board feet of decking (92%) was reclaimed to form the foundation of the central atrium/“Commons,” structural system, and interior cladding.

Timber reclamation from the existing warehouse reduces overall environmental impact, preserves the rich history of the building site, and reflects the owner’s commitment to environmental protection and preservation. Using a phased demolition process, wood components were individually harvested from the existing on-site warehouse. The team pulled nails, unfastened bolts, removed brackets and devices, trimmed out fractures, and sorted the wood before it was shipped to a local mill for structural grading and fabrication. A mock-up was built in the adjacent warehouse to test structural integrity since each beam would be used as a “composite timber/concrete beam system” – the first such use in the United States, which reduced structural material needs by 30 percent.

^ Wow, the interior of the new high school is really nice.  Nothing but the best for Oak Bay!

HB, are you able to snap some photos of the inside of the school for us?

Ya, HB, the key that you used for Belmont will likely work on the front door of Oak Bay High.

I believe that is a different project in Seattle.

I recall English in that top classroom, the teacher used to point at the clock every so often and tell you how much closer to death you are since you entered the classroom, it was very inspiring.. ... Turns out I outlived the classroom at least, looks like the clock was salvaged, don't know about the teacher however.

Old Oak Bay High lives on in Seven Deadly Sins

Set in the town of Grace, California I think they had a murder mystery in that town as well

I'm wondering about the School District's choice in how they listed the French and English names on the school. Any one know?

Don't be so sure.
