"More and more professors are going on sick leave and an “undue amount” of faculty are on long-term disability, she said. “What I’m seeing is that people are at the end of their rope.”"

Not a great surprise to see this happening after all of the micro aggressions those professors have experienced over the many years.

Standard tactic when cuts are coming. HR will be reluctant to fire anyone on sick leave or LTD due to the risk of a lawsuit and will thus let go the competent and hard working staff instead.

Camosun College faculty spur creation of decolonized English assessments

National interest in new tool that will better suit prospective Indigenous students

https://www.vicnews....ssments-7350112

Maureen Niwa saw Indigenous students receiving low scores on assessments despite their work, such as essays, showing profound wisdom, reflection and insights. It was then that Niwa realized schools were using the wrong tool.

“The current tool is American-based, contains language that may trigger trauma, and overlooks common Indigenous cultural practices such as storytelling, community-based experiences, land-based issues and values placed on family,” Niwa, a Camosun English instructor, said in the release.

Values placed on family? If we are to believe a lot of the “mass graves” stuff it seems a lot of indigenous lost track of who were in their family. Or how they were misplaced.

I don't acknowledge the term "decolonized".

Many IQ test results were biased because the norms were established based on only a segment of the population.

Perhaps this American based evaluation rubric is another example of a built in bias?

About 20 tents went up on McGill's downtown campus Saturday in what students are calling an act of solidarity with the Palestinian cause, joining a wave of similar protests taking place across U.S. campuses amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

On Saturday afternoon, organizers could be heard asking over loudspeakers that as many people as possible stay at the encampment overnight. A larger group of demonstrators who had participated in a protest in downtown Montreal joined later, but many of them left campus by 7:30 p.m., the McGill University media relations department said in a statement sent Saturday.

Protesters are demanding McGill and Concordia universities "divest from funds implicated in the Zionist state as well as [cut] ties with Zionist academic institutions," according to a statement sent to CBC News by Zaynab Ali, a McGill student participating in the protest.

Ali was referencing a data set published on April 18 by McGill Hunger Strike for Palestine and Students for Justice in Palestine. It lists 50 companies that McGill University invests in that the organizations say are "complicit in upholding the apartheid regime of Israel."

Paywall but I can already see it’s genocidal propaganda. “The myth of co-existence…” really? I don’t even need to see which side this lands on.

Peace is the new extremism I suppose….

University officials said Monday that the number of tents at the pro-Palestinian encampment on McGill University's downtown campus tripled since Saturday.

Montreal protesters set up about 20 tents Saturday afternoon with the intent of staying on McGill University's lower field "indefinitely." They joined a wave of pro-Palestinian demonstrations held on campuses across the U.S. who want to see universities divest from companies with business ties to Israel.

In a statement published Monday, the university's media relations office said the situation with protesters on campus had "shifted significantly."

"We have become aware that many of them, if not the majority, are not members of the McGill community," the statements reads.

University officials also said they saw video evidence of "some people using unequivocally antisemitic language and intimidating behaviour" on campus.

Palestinians deserve to thrive as do the Jewish. That seems to be a simple starting position to at least take. That should be the headline....

Community notes distributed to visitors permitted to enter the so-called “Liberated Zone” include an agreement “not to talk to cops or campus security,” “engage with agitators or counter-protesters,” and never to “share names or personal details of anyone we meet in this encampment.”

I’ve seen that garbage all around UVic for months. It isn’t really new. Unlike the escalating protests happening which really have to be nipped in the bud asap. The gongshow in NYC right now cannot be allowed to happen here.

Who is funding these anti-semites?

Now there is a question. Bet you my paycheck is isn't anyone or any entity on this continent. I'll leave it to others to figure out which state actors are almost certainly involved.......
