The well established Tomely Market has been the neighbourhood's to-go grocery store for 50 years. Fantastic lease, stable clientele and great location provide the owners profitable incomes.  That place has changed hands many times over the last decade or 2. I actually know the Tomley's that gave it their name (it was something else before that). Thought it amusing when a 2nd Tomley's was opened downtown, long after the Tomley family sold it.

Dollarama is coming to Westside Village. BP is issued to combine units 110-170, which looks to be everything in the building at the corner of Bay and Wilson except the Pharmasave.

There is work being done in the ground floor unit to the right of Save-On, formerly occupied by Lifelabs (who moved upstairs).

 

Perhaps Hot House is relocating to make room.

It's odd, looking at other BPs for the property there is one Dollarama permit issued for units 110-170, and one permit on hold for units 120/130/140/160/170. Lots of other permits listed as "active," but no unit numbers listed on the file description, unfortunately.

Oh, there's also work being done in the southern-most retail space along the eastern frontage. It was formerly The Source.

Yes.  Between Big Wheel and Save On.  The Life Labs moved upstairs a few months ago.

There's also some sort of kick-boxing gym going into the ground floor space of the lawyer building on Harbour Rd.  At least, that's what I think I read as I drove by there the other morning.

I grew up in the area and we knew it as Lewis (pronounced Louie) low cost. If you lived in the area you could set up an account and run a tab and they would send you a bill at the end of the month. Back in the days before debit cards and bank machines, this was a huge help. I remember doing a lot of shopping for my mom and having to sign for the groceries. Looking back now, I can't believe I never thought to head to the store and get a boat load of candy and put it on our tab!

That makes sense. On either side of Win there are crews working, plus a crew in the old LifeLabs space. Once Win moves the entire lower level will be empty, with the exception of the pet store.

Maybe that's where the Dollarama is going then? The BP folder only gives unit numbers, not street address. Hot House may be safe after all!
