The Laundro Lounge laundromat @ Yates/Cook recently relocated to Langford as part of the Nest and Haven redevelopment of their old location.  Their new new location is at 776 Goldstream Avenue and they have two 'downtown' drop-off locations in James Bay and Oaklands.  The business has also renamed itself to The Laundry Room:  https://laundrolounge.ca/

I was hoping it was a laundromat that also had a lounge where you could get a drink and socialize. I like that that idea.

I was trying to find information on an old carpet store on Douglas st  not too far from the uptown area . My father bought carpet there  for our house years ago . I know they defied the Sunday shopping order and paid the fine of 500 a say for opening on Sunday back in the day .It was quite scandalous. I think it was called Mandels ?

Anyone remember this place . They seemed to have a catchy radio ad I can’t quite remember.

Just thinking how far things have changed .

Lyle’s is closing this fall. They will be holding a close-out sale starting September 1st.

They’re situated along the 700-block of Yates.

Know it all.

Lyle's.

long run on the same block.  not sure if it's seen as one of the cool vinyl shops now though.    they had a good run in the time of CDs though.  and maybe with collectibles (clothing, posters, buttons, badges) before you could find all that online.

Lyle's? They were the go-to place for cheap CDs in my youth...and my youth was quite a while back now.

yes.  you could by a new CD at A&B Sound, or maybe get the same one for $2 less at Lyle's, very lightly used.  A&B closed in 2008.  they sold new as well.   you might not find the newest biggest releases in their used stock, they would sell fast.   but you could find your favourite "new" band's back catalog in a used CD often at very good prices.  but sometimes you'd luck out, they were always buying so every day they'd have new stock on the shelves.

Lyle’s always had the best gangster rap cassettes locked up in their display case.

Aw that's a bummer. Lyle's was a great source of movies and music in the post-HMV and -A&B Sound world.

My favorite place for CDs was a little place down near Market Square somewhere that specialized in early music, tudor stuff, old english folk music type of stuff. I like to browse, not buy online.

Since the 80s.

Jan 1st, 1986 according to the BBB and they are usually a year or two late. I am sure a pot shop or coffee shop will replace them.
