City and country stats there are a bit misleading vis a vis my 17,000 fans, as some people do not list their location, so, for example, the city list will never add up to 17,000. So I think we are 90% local still.

The country stats coupled with the city stats can give you a fairly reliable approximation.

If you add up the country stats you get pretty darn close to 17k, so you can use the country figures coupled with the city figures to deduce that 11k-12k are residents of the south Island, or approximately 65-70%. That's not bad.

Facebook shares back up to $28; company to report Q4 earnings Jan. 30

Facebook shares are up 5 percent today, closing at $28 on the first day of trading in 2013. The company also set the date for its 2012 fourth quarter earnings call: Jan. 30 at 2 p.m.

Today’s share price is as high as it has been since Dec. 13. This is only the third time Facebook has reached or exceeded $28 a share since late July.

The surge today is likely related to a number of analysts’ upgrades. Bank of America Merrill Lynch released a report predicting that Facebook’s mobile ad revenue will surpass its desktop revenues in 2014. BAML analysts expect Facebook to report 37 percent growth when it releases results for Q4.

BMO Financial Group upgraded Facebook stock from “underperform” to “outperform” and upped its price target from $15 to $32. J.P. Morgan Securities increased its price target to $35 from $29.

Not that I care too much about the stock price, as I've said before.

In contrast, we posted an old favourite a topless model at the Roundhouse, showing much less skin than this shot, it had 154 comments, and there were lots VERY negative. Only 6 people shared it. 30 people quit the page after the model post, only 2 after the ride (but about 44 joined since -we don't get exact stats here for a week or so).

Facebook shares are over $48 today. That's 21% higher than their IPO in May 2012, but also about the same rise as the Nasdaq index on the whole over that period.
