Toronto parking story:
In the core with lots of row houses, you have to have a permit, but that only entitles you to park on that block. You can end up at the end of your block 100 yards away with two bags of groceries in winter.
We bought a house on a corner, selling agent was a friend of the old lady's family and he was from the burbs where every house has parking so he didn't think about it.
We got the house w/blvd parking. Later, another agent told us the house was under-priced by $10-12K because the 'burban agent didn't know the value of blvd parking in the core.

I don't get the whole Resident Parking thing.  If your accommodation does not include a parking spot, and you need one, why is the City's responsibility to save you one on the street?

Why should the City give a commuter free parking at work? Why should we clog residential streets with people parking all day, every day?

We should ban all parking, except for very short term (for deliveries and quick errands). Piss everyone off, done.

Let's make all street parking paid parking, rather than ban it.  Add in some drop off zones for passengers, and some delivery zones for commercial vehicles, both with strict time limits. Then it's fair to everyone.

Sounds fair. Street parking in very low demand areas can have a low price. Like a $200 annual pass.

Hey Folks,
I’ve been away from Facebook now for about three weeks, and it’s been great. I need to downsize a few things, so am back for a bit since Facebook groups/marketplace are easy places to do that, but then I’ll be gone again.
Anyways, while I’m back I just wanted to pop in to remind folks that homeownership ends at the property line, and claiming the boulevard as belonging to one house or another is a culture we need to shift away from. The problem with this seemingly harmless activity is that when change comes to a neighbourhood residence may feel like they are “losing” something, but that something, street parking, was never theirs.
Each of these houses had three or four spots, that I could see, to park cars on their properties, without using street parking. Granted they would mean shuffling cars to get them out, which is annoying, I do understand, but still not a valid reason to claim public land as exclusively theirs.

Meh, I'd leave those people alone. There's plenty of parking for everyone and if someone thinks their special spot is a special spot just leave them be.

in other situations like that many homeowners have planted grass and then placed deterrent rocks to prevent any parking.
