The Victoria Regional Transit System has successfully rolled out a new technology that will improve predictability for passengers on April 25.

The New Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) hardware will allow Victoria transit customers to see the real-time location of their bus along a route and the estimated time of arrival at a bus stop. It replaces the NextRide technology.

In a collaborative effort, the project’s costs were shared with the Government of Canada contributing 50 per cent, the Province of B.C.

As much as I want to see bus lanes on Mackenzie, Saanich's rational for not doing so immediately makes complete sense

During the day McKenzie is often choked along much of its length at two lanes a side.  Narrowing that down to one a side would be sheer idiocy.

 

And where are they going to get the extra buses and drivers to run a second rapid-bus route?
