Filmmakers are releasing another preview of an upcoming docuseries they say will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the efforts to find Emma Fillipoff, who has been missing from Victoria for more than a decade.

 

The official release date for the series Barefoot in the Night: The Search for Emma Fillipoff has yet to be announced, but preview three, The Man in the Green Shirt, is coming Nov. 28, according to Bayberry Films.

 

“Shelley Fillipoff has been searching for her daughter Emma for ten long, heartbreaking years,” reads the series’ synopsis on Bayberry Film’s website.

 

“Barefoot in the Night, a six-hour docuseries, is a behind-the-scenes look at the effort to find Emma, covering the timeline, tips, sightings, and witness accounts. This is Shelley’s story. She will not let Emma be forgotten.”

 

Fillipoff was 26 years old when she was reported missing on Nov. 28, 2012.

Timothy Keeling was last seen Nov 26 in downtown Victoria & his vehicle was located in the 300-blk of Beach Dr, Oak Bay.  He has a medium build, 5’11 / 180cm, 200 lbs / 90 kg, with brown hair & blue eyes. There is concern for his well being as this is out of character.

RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating Omar Peters, who was last seen by family on November 22, 2023 at 12:00 pm.  Omar Peters frequents the area of Danbrook Park in Langford.

Description of Omar Peters:

Caucasian male;
21 years;
5 ft 7 in (169 cm);
thin build;
black hair;
green eyes;
wearing a red toque and orange jacket.

Police have followed up on several leads to attempt to locate Omar Peters's and are concerned for his health and well-being.  Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Omar Peters is urged to contact their local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

UPDATE: Missing man found, search continues for 21-year-old woman near Nanaimo

Nov 30, 2023 

UPDATE (Nov. 30, 11 a.m.) — Local Mounties and Nanaimo Search and Rescue are continuing to search for one adult who went missing on Tuesday, Nov. 28 near Mt. Benson.

Twenty-one-year-old Katrina Demore is still considered missing, while 32-year-old Owen Donahue and the black Dodge pick-up associated with the missing pair have both been located.


 

Police are planning to speak further with Donahue to obtain more information about Demore.

Search and Rescue crews are currently searching the area of Nanaimo Lakes Rd. near the Nanaimo Lakes gate access, and a search helicopter will be assisting them on Thursday.

EARLIER — A search is underway in logging roads west of the city for a pair of people who got separated from a larger group.

Katrina Demore, 21, and Owen Donahue, 32, were part of a four-person group out for a trip on Tuesday, Nov. 28 however only two returned at the end of the day.

They were reported missing on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

“Investigators were told by one of the two that returned that [the pair] wandered off from the group during the afternoon and did not return. After approximately 90 minutes the other two adults tried searching for them but were unable to find them.”

In addition to Demore and Donahue, a black Dodge pickup truck, license plate PK-4724 is also missing and believed to be connected to the pair.

UPDATE (Nov 30, 2:20 pm.) — Nanaimo RCMP and Nanaimo Search and Rescue (NSAR) have located 21-year-old Katrina Demore, who was reported missing on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Police say she was located near the intersection of South Forks Rd. and Nanaimo River Rd. around 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30.

She was reportedly cold and treated on scene by BCEHS for exposure before being transported to hospital for a medical assessment.

RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating Edward Kozak, who was reported missing on November 30, 2023.

Mr. Kozak was last seen on November 30, leaving his residence in Shawnigan Lake in his red 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan with Ontario licence plate AVRE575.

Description of Mr. Kozak:

 

Caucasian;
84 years-old;
5’8;
Nearly bald with a white goatee.

Police and family are very concerned for Mr. Kozak’s health and well-being.

Liveaboard boater missing in Nanaimo

 

A search is underway in Nanaimo after a man who lives on a sailboat near Hammond Bay was reported overdue by friends on Saturday.

 

 

Nanaimo RCMP said 35-year-old Ryan Pratt was last seen about 4 p.m. Friday on a red aluminum skiff as he headed back to his sailboat. The skiff was later found washed up on a nearby island, and a canoe Pratt often used was found adrift.

Almost a year after she was last seen, a missing Victoria woman’s body has been found.

Melissa McDevitt, 38, was reported missing on Dec. 10, 2022.

Police say McDevitt’s body was found in dense vegetation within the Sooke Potholes search area by a group of volunteer hikers known as Mindful of Melissa on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old woman who was reported missing on December 12, 2022 has sadly been located deceased. Although a full determination has yet to be made, RCMP do not believe that criminality was involved in the woman's death. The BC Coroners Service has been notified, and is also investigating the woman's death.

The RCMP offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
